    Good evening everyone,
Nice sounding recipe hadid21, thanks :)
Late on parade today, so apologies if I've missed anything skimming back. A friend came round for a cuppa and we nattered for hours and then the rest of the day disappeared on me. I only remembered a short while ago when I got the text confirming delivery that I had my grocery order to finalise. Thankfully a fairly basic one this week and they had everything I was looking for.
LO cottage pie for lunch. I'm CFO tonight and CBA cooking so HM soup from the freezer for dinner.

Back to work today and I've finished with a sore tongue from biting it all day 🙄 the boss is off and one of my colleagues decided to be very bossy trying to hand out work without picking any up herself   :|

I went to John Lewis this evening, there is a small one next to Waitrose to look at their fridge freezers, to get some ideas, it seems that some of them are now taller than my current one so would require steps for me to reach the top shelf 🤭 there are only two places to look at them in town since our Curry closed JL and a local company who are quite competitive price wise. After browsing I popped into Waitrose for a bit of fresh food, I avoided the meat and fish aisles as I could see them pricing up YS items but I didn't want to be tempted at the moment.  I did pick up two packs of YS blackberries for £1 and two packs of figs £1 each rather than £3.80, a couple of cooking apples fell into the basket to add to the blackberries so maybe a crumble or cobbler for tomorrow 🙂

lunch was using the rest of the smoke salmon trimmings with scrambled egg and toasted muffin.  Dinner was pan fried salmon (double salmon today 😬) with new potatoes and green veg

Farway not sure if you plan to do a Waitrose shop but they have 25% off gammon joints at the moment, I didn't buy one as I have a small 750g M&S one somewhere in the bottom of my freezer

  • Ooh, I know the sore tongue feeling, Brambling!

I’ve had a much better day today, some productive meetings and some really good catch ups…even did some actual work too 😂

Lunch was celery and Stilton soup with a cheese scone. LO courgette and harissa orzo out of the freezer with some feta stirred through when I reheated, served with George Foreman’d tomatoes (not putting the oven on just to roast tomatoes 😉)

Hmm, I’ll raise your double salmon to triple cheese 🧀

Grey, damp & much colder this morning, just right for December

Brambling, thanks for the tip about W/rose gammon, I am planning to do an online shop there before Christmas, just biding my time waiting for offers next week, the ones I have will expire before I need to buy
Fridge freezers, when I was looking earlier this year with a friend we found that Argos had a good range and availability, plus in our case could order, sort out delivery dates etc from a real human Sainsbobs customer counter. We never found anywhere local to actually look at F.Fs, well I suppose could've driven miles to somewhere but CBA, and at the time it was COVID lockdown, ships stuck in the Suez Canal etc, so stock was a problem with many

The Essentials braising steak I cooked yesterday was as nice as before, definitely a good 'un so far, and with plenty of LOs for the upcoming cold weekend

Lunch, the sausage rolls I never warmed up yesterday
Dinner, RM cheese & onion flan / Quiché with HM AF chips & salad, the salad option is more use up than suitable for this weather

    Good morning everyone,
    Damp and grey here.
Tesco due soon and there's no subs or unavailable things. I've ordered a lump of their SO beef roasting joints, they're usually topside or similar so ideal for dicing and casseroling. I've promised a steak pie this New Year so it will do nicely for that.
Need to reduce a large tub of lamb stock to a more manageable amount and play a bit of freezer tetris!
Food is tbc, probably a sandwich for lunch and a freezer rake for dinner.

Thanks for the reminder that Argos sells FF Farway I had forgotten that's where I got my small freezer. After mopping up a small pool of water from underneath it today I've brought one from there which was on offer free delivery next Wednesday if I don't mind a vague time of between 7am -6pm and we all know if I get up and dressed by 7am it wouldn't arrive until 6pm 🙄 It's the same make as my current one so will hopefully last me at least another 17 years 🙂 My sister is already eyeing up all the empty space for Christmas 🤔

lunch was celery soup.  Dinner was all from the freezer, lamb casserole, root veg mash, braised red cabbage and runner beans although TBH I'm not sure what I was doing when I froze the casserole as it was a very nice gravy but only had two small bits of lamb in it 😐

Grey, damp and properly cold here today 🥶

WFH day - started nice and calm, went a bit silly in the middle but calmed down again by the end 😊, actually got most of my to do list done.

Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch. Out to a Christmas fair in town this evening so chicken souvlaki from a street vendor for tea, was absolutely lovely 😋

Caught up with Strictly and Masterchef when I got home, enjoying both this year.

Another cold & grey morning where I'm glad the heating came on before I got up

Brambling, good news about the freezer, and in time for the Big Day. Will they take the old one away? They did with my one, but had to pay extra & pre-arrange for taking away.
Fair swap of info, there's an on offer ham in my W8rose basket awaiting checking out :)

Meals, no cooking today, just re heating
Lunch some more cheapo sausage rolls + brown sauce
Dinner, nuke LO braised beef stew thingy

    Good afternoon everyone,
Glad you got a freezer sorted Brambling.
Chaos here today, Ari is visiting and him and Hector are going wild. Clearly Ari is feeling much better!
Ended up making a chicken thigh and veg tray bake bung in for dinner yesterday made far too much veg so will have them for lunch.
Chicken again tonight, breasts this time. I have some bread sticks needing used up so will whizz them for a crunchy coating. We are having those with stir fry veg and Chinese takeaway style curry sauce.  Still swithering between rice or AF oven chips.
  • Properly cold again here today. I did at least see the sun for a few hours this morning though.

Not much cooking going on here - been out for lovely tapas lunch. Just had some of the mackerel pate on toast with a cuppa.

Need to meal plan and food shop tomorrow 🤔
