I don't think this is about benefit bashing, but about foreigners expecting to turn up and get given money for nothing.

Which technically is ok in some circumstance and with EU citizens involved more complex. The OP hasn't asked any specific questions or given tangible information and isn't getting much advice as a result. The original post was essentially a complaint about the lack of benefits and so the conversation has gone down the route of whether that thinking is right.

If the OP posted details of the HRT and refusal and asked "is this correct" - they might get some useful answers?

They probably should ask on other boards things like:
"Where can my son-in-law get work experience to help improve his employment prospects and help contribute to society whilst looking for work"
"What jobs/companies would hire someone with limited english at the moment?"
"What spanish communities are there in the town of XXX"
"Could my daughter get a part-time job with these ..... qualifications?"

The OP hasn't presented any specific PROBLEMS to be ANSWERED or SOLVED..... so it's just emotion and debate on the rights/wrongs of a decision made on vague details that nobody or the original poster understands - so everyone is giving an opinion as to what should happen - partly in response to the OP who has only done that....zzzLazyDaisy is a lawyer not an immigration one but did ask and suggest useful advice but was not answered.

Are you aware that there is a law against Rasism??? ILW would you like me to tell you what i think that stands for??? It starts with ignorant

Spanish is not a race, it is a nationality which is a political definition.

Muttering about "foreigners' is racism whatever spin you put on it.

“Don’t have children if you can’t afford them” is the “Let them eat cake” of the 21st century. It doesn’t matter how children got here, they need and deserve to be fed.

    depends where you are
in Scotland we have the ILA 200 offering £200 towards part time study(in some courses)

or £500 in set courses towards access to higher education

I don't know whether the OP lives in Scotland but I thought that the ILA had to be used for vocational courses rather than Adult Education. Mind you, I'm not very up on the Scottish system.

    It's not racism - Xenophobia maybe.... being French isn't a racial trait :-D .

Less sentiment and a better definition of what problems you need advice to solve might help - probably on a new clean thread. LEgal entitlement to benefits doesn't have a section on the form detailing your parents relationship history, sexlife, work history or bad past financial decisions.... they aren't really relevent to your daughter and justifying yourself will just wind yourself up!

    No it is not.
Possibly though a description of "those with no direct connection to the UK" my be better though.

Daughters children are dual nationality (Most would consider as born in Spain to British mother and Spanish father - more Spanish) so Spanish taxpayer has just as much liability as British. Why should the whole bill fall to the UK?

Because they live in the UK now how do you expect them to claim benefits in spain when they dont live there. Same as here if you dont live here you cant claim. Did you not know that ??? Thought you were an expert ???
They live here now so what is the point in going on about spanish benefits. Or do you expect them to return to spain just because YOU are not happy about it. GET OVER IT ! Second word LOWLIFE!

All valid points that you made i agree, but in a time of crisis there are priorities and I assume that the OP (correct me if I am wrong OP) is prioritising the fact that she cannot afford logically to support and feed 2 adults and 2 children in her current circumstances. The immediate concern is financial and in my experience it does cost money to seek work! Stamps, bus fares, petrol etc... and a starved looking Spaniard turning up for interviews (however good looking, they can be gorgeous those Spaniards!) wouldn't land him a job choose how good his charm or his command of the English language was. Priorities, so she asked about those - assuming that her daughter, partner and kids could get some help to get them on their feet as so many others in this country get help. I can see exactly where she is coming from! I would want some, ANY money coming in to feed me and mine before I had the energy in thinking about looking for a job, I'd also need money to enable me to actually seek one. Just my thoughts.

Has this not already been stated that the Op and her daughter are British? the partner is Spanish..he is the only 'foreigner' in the family. As I said in my other post he did not just arrive here yesterday on a banana boat to claim benefits and get money for nothing. He is desperate to find work..

Don't know how many times this has to be repeated?.

Because they chose to come to this country which is their right under European movement law and because those children are British and so is that girl. You seem quite heartless. I hope you never suffer a situation that lands you in the same mess.

Anyone from an EU country can live in another one - there's no argument about that. However, claiming benefits from that country is a very different matter and it's easier in the UK than in most others.
