What I find confusing is how the OP manages to afford internet access if they are so hard up.

Would it not be more appropriate to use any spare money on food etc.

I am sure you and your daughter could have found out if you were able to access any other benefits by going to CAB, advice centre or the job centre.
  • Oh dear one needs internet to claim under Universal credit and internet is standard. I would NOT be without internet though I am on benefits. I I would rather be without bad value tv.
Just like mobiles everyone has them and you can also save on landlines if sensible/able.

  • I think benefits bashers prefer the following, a damp flat meaning ill health, drab clothes so you LOOK poor instead of protecting dignity with decent colours etc, no internet no tv etc so you are out of touch,, what a bunch of miserable gits! IGNORE! do what is right for you. IGNORE. Unless you learn how to fight back and make mincemeat of the little swearwords.(which actually protects them as often benefits claimants the worst type of basher).

This thread has turned very ugly - surely the Mods on this site need to close it down and advise the OP to possibly start a new thread up (and poss help her where necessary?)

Cannot see anyone - OP or posters - gaining anything from this thread as it stands.

    Just my thoughts

Yes thats correct my husband left in 2009 i tried to survive for 2 yrs then my sister turned up in 2011.
My daughters partner has applied for work in a bed factory and a night shift shelf stacking in tescos. His english is not good. As i am writing this my daughter is giving him lessons. He understands more than he can speak.

OK so jobs where minimal english only is needed: Gardening, kitchen work (dishwasher loading), cleaning, night warehouse work... Is he catholic, local churches and networks can be a good way to integrate and find work through word of mouth; A willingness to do anti-social hours should help.

Volunteering would a) help his english b) provide references c) stop him going stir-crazy d) provide evidence of an intention to settle long-term

So do babies - and my dog! ;) Well I hope he manages to get employment and then he and your daughter will be able to afford to rent privately. :) With 8 of you living in a home meant for 4 (yourself and your other 3 daughters), it must be a squash. :(

People need internet to apply for jobs these days - whether the benefit basher/Daily Fail brigade like it or not a phone is necessary for the JC to contact people or they can be sanctioned. Benefits are not the reason Britain is broke, Thatchers policies and the banking/sub prime mortgage fiasco are responsible. How about the 'discussions' about how dreadful benefits are move to Discussion Time?

"Grrrr I was just reading the Daily Mail web-site and accidently clicked on the window for this thread which my wife was reading earlier.

After reading just the first 5 lines of Shazm's comments I roared in impotent rage.

I am sick to death of johnny foreigner coming to this country and stealing our money through our overly generous benefits system.

We proper Brits are being exploited by "Europeans" who see us as a soft touch and are all to ready to finish off what Hitler started and bring this proud non european country to its knees.

They come over here stealing our jobs and then don't have the decency to get a job and just steal my tax payers money!!!!!

Its bleeding heart liberals that are ruining this country blah blah blah benefit cheats bluster bluster bluster fume!!!!!!"

Sorry, do I sound like anyone who has already commented on this thread?

It is quite clear that there are not too many people who really understand the nature of the debt crisis in this country and just are so ready to believe what ever comes from this goverments mouth.

The amount of money paid in benefits (Never mind just to foreign residents) is so insignificant in the grand scheme of the countries debt as to be negligible.

The major reason we have so much debt is because the banking system was under regulated and allowed to basicly gamble on what it liked with whoevers money it wanted.

when this went south WE the tax payer bailed out the banks to the tune of several hundred billions (maybe more).

So to harrass a women who has come on here looking for advice and support because her circumstances do not fit the little Englander mentality of some of the posters is a disgrace and one, which previous generation considered bullying in a more gentler ti

sorry i misunderstood totally Haha thought you were just another basher lol
