OS Daily for Wednesday 18th July 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 18th July 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all! This is only the second time I've started this thread so hope I've done it right!

Just caught up with yesterday's thread. JACKIE0 - lunch yesterday sounded great; make sure this is a regular treat! I agree with you about that sad 'Posh' woman. I didn't watch the programme because I'm sick of seeing her try and re-invent herself all the time. I do wish she'd do something useful with all that dosh, say, help disadvantaged children or something; she could start with her own lovely children - I dread to think what sort of shallow lives they will live. I, too, would not want to swap my life for hers.

Make sure you all check out Martin's photo! Brilliant! And it suits him somehow!

Well - yesterday was a lovely day; I looked after the grandchildren, DGD in the late morning and then DGS after school. He's doing a project on WW2 (his choice - and he's only 7!) and he's so interested in it. We're trying to avoid all the bad bits - he'll find out soon enough but 7 is too young, so we're concentrating on the 'keep the home fires burning' and 'waste not, want not' side of things and I found lots of info for him. The Daily Mail yesterday had a two-page spread about recycling during the war which was interesting; then I found the old ration books (not my own, I hasten to add!), ID cards etc that I bought in an auction and we talked for ages. DH (exRAF) came home and showed him his Campaign Medal for N. Ireland and he was enthralled. Anyway, my DIL phoned later to say that he had said he'd had one of the best days of his life talking to us! that it was 'excellent, and I've learned such a lot!' Isn't it great to get positive 'feedback'. His interest is so real that we're looking for lots other bits and pieces now - I've got some lovely photos of a very young and skinny DH when he was in the RAF marching and so on so I can make copies of those and I'll keep an eye on the wartime thread here. I'm gong to enjoy this project as much as him, I think!

Well, today I'm off to my first session at Curves - I'm having a 'figure analysis' today - that should be fun. CRAZYCHIK - I've just remembered you asked the other day if it was still 'women only' and it is! Will let you all know how I get on!

Did anyone watch River Cottage yesterday - he had five junk-food addicts stay with him for a week; they all lived on intensively-farmed chicken and he wanted to introduce them to the proper organic variety. It was fascinating and I can't wait for next weeks episode. My dinner tonight is going to Chicken Kiev a la River Cottage!

Anyway, must go - need to grab a coffee and a shower before DH gets up!

See you all later and have a GRRRRREAT DAY!

Good morning Kathy and all to follow,

i didnt see Riverside cottage, but i love it, so i will look out on the other channels for repeats, sounded like you had a lovely time with your dgs Kathy. when i moved in to my house i knew from the survey that it had had some bomb damage in the war, but the previouse owners left my a photo. omg !!!!!! the whole of the back of the house had been blown away !!!! it took a hit from a bomb in the first week of the war. next door have lived there all their lives( HER FATHER BUILT THESE HOUSES ) apparently when the bomb hit there was a bath run for someone ( luckily no one was in it yet ) and the bath flew out the room and landed in the garden.. still with the water in it !!!!!!!!!

i dont know why but i have woken up grumpy this morning !!!! im in a i cant be bothered to do anything mood !!!!!! so im not going to !!!!!

my dd is going to be 13 in a couple of weeks... any ideas for a cool bday party theme ? last year we had a hawaiaan party and it was soooooo good, but even though we have a trampolene its diffucult to decide as look at the weather lately !!!!! her friends have done 70s, 80s and disney charactors.

    time for coffee

    Morning Guys!

Sorry I havent posted, but I have been in and out of hospital since Friday and finally escaped properly last night:D ...I didnt want to miss out on saying goodbye to DD as she is going away later and wanted to get on with my own holiday too. They have given me new meds and I am under strict orders to rest and have been given numbers and names of local hospitals to where we are staying.

DD is all packed and ready to go. I am so nervous about her going and my tummy is sickly! Cant believe it has come round so quickly:eek:      ...wont say anymore as Im getting upset LOL:o

Sold another £50 worth of stuff over the weekend on Ebay which was good:D ...this year has been quite kind so far.

I think we are taking DD out for dinner to the harvester from school as she leaves at 7.30 tonight....they also have an earlybird third off;)

I have so many things to get through today, so will say goodbye and will hopefully get on later. If not, I am taking my laptop with me and just hope that someone has wireless next door:D

    Hugs to all.

    Morning all

Pen Pin, glad to see you back, hope your new meds make you feel better soon.

Amie, why did you wake up grumpy - you should have let him sleep :D (sorry ;) )

Looks a bit damp here today, you know, that drizzly rain that gets you wetter than the heavy stuff.

Work today, so am putting a chicken casserole in the slow cooker for later, and pasta and tuna for lunch.

Hugs to everyone, especially JackieO who is an inspiration to us all :grouphug:

Have a good day all, x

    Morning.
Hugs to all today especially Jackio, Penpin and Grannybroon.(((())))

Well im feeling really happy this morning, i dont know if any of you read my thread on the debt free board last month but i got myself in a big mess with the rent, the only debt i couldnt catch up on, and i had a eviction order on the house, i was due to be thrown out on the 9 th Aug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well yesterday i paid it off, i have no idea how i we have done it but including last months rent and arrears we have paid off over a £1000 in just 4 weeks, im so proud of myself it just shows me i can do it when i have to!!!
Im not proud of the fact we got so behind but the rent was one of the debt my DMP couldnt deal with, but i want to say thank you as without you lot i would have never learnt the art of meal planning and there is no way i could have paid it off without this skill!!!
We have even got another couple of hundred quid put away for our 5 day hoilday to the coast in August (staying with the in-laws).
    So today im happy!!!

Plans for today clean clean clean followed by iron iron iron!!!!
    Have a good day all

(((Hugs))) to everybody who want one, Well done to DLB that a fab acheivement.

I'm awake before the rest of the house, as my sis phoned this morning to say that her boyfriends ex (mother of his daughter) had been taken to hospital with a massive stroke. Poor women is only in her early 30's. Her daughter found her so cant imagine what shes going through shes only 11.

I'm supposed to be at work all day but now I'm going to have to be on standby to go to Blackpool if my sis needs me. Its DD last morning at nursery before the holidays and this afternoon shes at grandmas. My MIL is looking after both her and her cousin today so I dont envy her.

Better go and get the rest of the house up otherwise were all going to be late

    have a good day
