Probably not, just someone who never seems to understand that their opinion isn't the only one that is allowed on these boards and they often ending up throwing insults about rather than engaging in a reasonable debate.

Yet another person who can't read and understand posts. rolleyes.gif

If you had you would understand that it was not about a matter of opinion.

It was a FACT that the OP took the correct ID for the parcel.

Jojo them started wittering smugly on about how she always took she correct ID and never had any problems.

    It was never about opinions.

Although it is a FACT the OP took the correct ID. It is only your opinion that "Jojo them started wittering smugly". I'm not sure that is true!

It was a Parcelforce item being collected from a Post office and if it was a Parcelforce card left, then according the Parcelforce website, the ID needed must be photographic ID so a utility bill would not be suitable.
Your card will detail which Post Office® your item is at. If you need help finding the Post Office® please visit our Post Office® Finder..

Your item will be held at the Post Office® for 2 weeks. Please take your card and photo ID to the Post Office® to collect your parcel.

Yes I saw that earlier. It seems to depend what page you are on the website as to what ID is appropriate.
There is another page on the website that says you must have both proof of address and proof of Identity.
While in the Q & A's it does say a Utility bill is an acceptable proof of identity.
    Its a very poor website

    The website is wrong.

The card clearly states 'a form of identification'. It says nothing about photo ID.

It would actually be impossible for them to insist on photo ID since if you don't have a passport or driving licence you would be unable to get your parcel.

And do you really think the PO operative would have handed over the parcel without photo ID if that was in fact the rule? ;)

Can't say I'm that impressed with the staff at the one in the centre of town near where I work ... I swear I observed a pattern that they all conformed to of only serving two people (and not with much apparent urgency either) then pushing back from the counter to do something else for a bit, and this was at peak time.

Also, they seem to have someone manning the take-a-ticket machine at peak times, which I find particularly frustrating as when I asked for counter services (instead of being allowed to push the counter services button and get a ticket) I was asked what I was there to do. Apparently "use the counter services" isn't enough to gain you entry to the post office now, they want you to detail your business to a human guard dog. As an aside, I find it a bit weird that they put in a machine to replace someone then had to employ someone to operate the machine for customers.

When there I always seem to get asked questions pertaining more to the private nature of what I am doing there rather than whether or not I want the services they offer too. E.g. I was asked if what I was posting was worth over £46 rather than being told it was only insured up to £46 with the delivery method I had asked for (and been quite specific about). That made me uncomfortable, it's one thing to indirectly disclose the value band of what you are posting for insurance purposes, but quite another to be asked "is it worth more than X?". In my head it sounds more like "is this worth me opening when you are gone" (unlikely I know).

Still, I am quite easily frustrated. I once asked my father "does the Boots in [my home town] have a pharmacy in it?" and got the answer "Superdrug does" which I guess is trying to be helpful, and presumably means "I don't know, but if you are looking for any pharmacy then I know Superdrug has one", but in actual fact fails to answer the question in any deterministic way (Yes/No/I don't know).
If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.

They are trying to ensure what you are sending is being sent by the appropriate service.

I know what they were trying to do, but like I said, it's one thing to tell you how much it is insured up to and what services insure up to what levels and quite another to ask specifics about your business so they can make an informed decision on your behalf.

We used to have a proper post office -then they moved it across the road into WH Smiths. First few weeks it was marvelous (I can only think the staff were either super motivated or they'd shipped in staff from elsewhere to train up the new staff) then it started to turn to snarling staff, wanderers (the number of times they wander off between customers appears to be more frequent the longer the queue.

Yesterday I waited in line and got called by number to one of the FE desks-she'd obviously pushed the button -I walked past desks 1-7 as I got to 8 (and I walk perfectly well not slowly) she turned her back on me and walked off. No "excuse me" or "be right with you" or any of the customary phrases I'd use to a customer myself. She was out of sight so I returned to the head of the queue -and she again pressed pressed number 8. No apology -when I asked what was happening (nicely) she shrugged and said "Something was beeping I had to go turn it off" (microwave with lunch in it perhaps?) I didn't comment and the clerk at number 7 then sticks her oar in "She did tell you I heard her" Well 1 No-one asked her 2 No-one said she didn't 3 None of her business 4 I hadn't said she hadn't said anything- Best form of defence is attack I assume.

Awful service and attitude. I work with some of the most challenging customers going (TV,talk and broadband company) and if I can handle dealing with customers without arrogance, rudeness or lies -so can the PO staff.
