  • hello...! i have just applied over the phone as my nearest COOP branch is not open at the weekends...typical! I work crazy hours during the week with no lunch hour (don't ask) so getting to another branch just isn't possible at the moment...I'll just have to wait until I hear back next week.

Best of luck hun!! I hope you didn't mind me suggesting it.

    MMD,

You are doing so well considering the amount of debt, if you post your SOA, we will try and help you so you can have something other than supernoodles, you need to live a little but within your means, your health will suffer, let us help you.

Hi, we called in and did our account at the branch so if you can get to your nearest it would help? has anyone any ideas how to cope with the silent phone callers who then hang up when you answer? driving me mad!
  • No of course i don't mind you suggesting me going to a branch! Its the sensible option but applying over the phone is the only way for me..it'll just take a bit longer that's all!

    good morning mmd
    just read your thread.
we were in your place nrly 7 yrs ago, 61k in debt. now nearly all gone, it can be done. I well remember the stomach churning, headache causing, nightmare chasing world that you are living in at the moment, but it does get better.
    At the moment--
1 list EVERYTHING in your food cupboard and go over to the oldstyle board where very clever people will tell you how to do a complete sunday roast made out of an old pair of shoes (I know this is a really hard time, but it CAN be done)

2 search all your old coats, bags sofa's etc where there maybe loose change, it all helps

3 STOP answering the phone to debt chasers. If you are unsure of the callers identity just don't answer the call. Write to each company and say that you will only be dealing with them in writing--this is a good idea for many reasons, not only because they quite often seem to "forget" your previuos phone call that agreed to something you have offered. If they call you at work is it possible to speak to who ever tkaes messages and tell them to say that you are not allowed to take personal calls at work now???

4 DON'T GIVE UP. It can be done. We run our own dmp, which is a debt management plan. Don't know anything about IVA's, except that from what I've read they seem to like a much "quicker fix" than a dmp, but they are not for everybody.

Can I ask a couple of personal questions??
    how old are you?
    do you have children?
is there any equity at all in your house?

    good luck and keep posting

just read that you are nervous abpout posting the soa. Can understan that, but this is an "anonomous" forum and the companies that read this should not be able to contact you. Ignore any pm's that offer to help you for a fee (or offer free advice)
posting your soa also makes this more real in a funny way, a step along the path to the end.

They will not know who you are, there are thousands of people in debt, how on earth are they going to know who you are?

During my time on MSE, I have never read that a DCA mentioned that they had seen "your post on MSE". We can help you, but we need info. As long as you don't give your name or too much personal details about yourself (e.g. names/places etc), no-one will know.

Of course its up to you, but a problem shared is a problem halved, and you could always sign in under a different user name if you feel you have given anything away previously.
