  • I have been talking to my mum about going B...I am terrified of it to be perfectly honest-in an ideal world I would love to pay the whole stinking debt off asap-but I am concerned about the implications of being a bankrupt-at the moment I can't even afford to pay the fee to be one!! grim!

That and also look into an IVA, its had some bad press but I think if you look into it and read martins write up on it and B it will break them down for you. The implications arent quite as bad, just make sure you read it through.
  • Don't let the !!!!!!s grind you down!
I will be in the same position when I start my DMP, and am prepared for hassle, well at least I say that now.
I have just topped up my cahoot loan to pay off my MBNA as I'd already heard they were awful to deal with. They are my smallest creditor, less than £500 out of £52k, so one less to deal with. I will have a ceremonial cutting of the card.

You know we are all in this together, and if ever you have any worries just post and someone will help.
Just think, one day, one day, you and I will hopefully be one of those with lots of stars who can help others by saying we got through it all in one piece, so please don't give in to bullies.

I hate to be a stereotype, but go on, have a hug :grouphug:
  • just got home from work to find a letter from HSBC telling me they are unable to accept my pro rata payment offer.....no surprises there! I will call cccs in the morning for advice but in the meantime, would anyone know what to do when a pro rata offer has been rejected by a creditor? I am thinking this will be the first rejection of many....

I have been reading your thread and I just want to say - what an incouragement! OH owes £6000 and that seems bad enough but to know that you are dealing with your debt in such a positive way is lovely to hear! Keep up the good work :)

    Hi MMD
that is great news and no doubt a huge relief.

Well done on the 2K how did you manage that, I would love to be able to see dents like that in my £25.5K!!!

Thanks for posting, I find your posts very encouraging you always seem to stay cheerful and that makes me feel like I am not alone and shouldn't be so miserable. So I guess what I am saying (not very well) is THANKS!!!:rotfl:

Well done on the account and I too want to know, £2k blimey. Imagine if you could keep that up.
    Keep us posted
  • thanks so much guys...i am glad my monster-debt thread gives you hope and encouragement (and hopefully brings a smile too!) I do go to the darkside sometimes when it all feels impossible and the debt might as well be £700k (because I'll never be able to pay it off) but paying off the £2k (I have been paid a big invoice recently which has been lurking unpaid for a while) has cheered me up so much....!

and of course the lovely mbna have been calling me at work and on the mobile constantly (despite being asked repeatedly NOT TO)to check my progress....how thoughtful of them! :rotfl:
