72k in debt....I feel sick

how long has this been going on?
i assume you must be in your twentees still living home and theese debts are not secured against a property?
therefore,if i were you i would run to the nearest CIB for advice -certainly sugary teas and hugs will not help you mate, but they will.
they might suggest an IVA for you, which can write most of these debts off- the only dowside is that your credit profile gets toasted for few years -but isn't it toasted anyway?.....you have nothing to loose give it a go!
good luck0 -
no not in my twenties and not living at home...living in my own property re mortgaged to the max and about to lose the plot with all this stuff at the moment...spoke to cccs counsellor earlier who said I have to deal with the creditors directly which is fine...I just needed to have that confirmed!"happiness is...positive cashflow!":j0

this whole thing has built up over very very many years...have remortgaged in the past to wipe previous debts off...hence no more equity in my property and MBNA are threatening to put a charge on it anyway...gulp."happiness is...positive cashflow!":j0

Hi moneymeltdown. My sister has recently been advised to got down the 'pro rata payment' route by CCCS. She wrote to all her creditors directly but they want CCCS to contact them directly. She's just as stressed as you. She's told them all firmly that she has sent them the letter on CCCS headed paper telling them that is all she can afford so stuff it. Luckily before all this started she wrote to all her creditors and told them that all contact MUST BE in writing and ased them to remove her contact numbers from their databases.
Don't know who your creditors are but she was lucky enough to get an easycash account with the Halifax.0 -
hi girlracer! thanks for your support...it's good to know I am not the only one struggling in this difficult place right now! this all feels horrible and not having a bank account is making me feel so un-normal. Fingers crossed that the
CO-OP will take me with my shocking money history
I know this sounds so silly but what is the difference between DMP and IVA..can anyone explain this to me? thankyou x"happiness is...positive cashflow!":j0 -
Hi Just catching up on your thread as we are a little further on than you. Did you sort out a bank account? the Co-op's is a good one, and once you have that you start to feel more in control of things. We are still getting phone calls, we have tried to speak to most of them and to be fair they so far have been ok,but there is one company and I dont know who they are because they hang up when we answer so I cant even send a letter!
I laughed when I read your post about the Midland griffin account, we have had our account with HSBC formerly Midland since my husband left school, but they dont care about customer loyalty etc, just getting as much money as they can squeeze out of us, I want to throw something at the telly when their ad comes on for the latest account!!
keep going, we still have up days and down days but we will all get there in the end, thank God for the LBM!!!0 -
I've just applied for the COOP cashminder account and my application has been 'referred' so no definate bank account for another week or so....the frustrating thing is I do have money but it's in my mother's bank account in malaysia....OH now working abroad so I can't use OH account for another week or so.....any ideas anyone??? thanks!"happiness is...positive cashflow!":j0

hi trevindra! yes the past few weeks have been sooooo draining and HSBC have been their usual UN-helpful selves even slapping another £185 charge onto my account this week...as if I can afford to pay that!
I am really hoping the COOP will accept me...how depresssing....yet another weekend looming with only super-noodles to eat!!!!!!"happiness is...positive cashflow!":j0 -
Hi MM
I have just read through your thread and wanted to send my best wishes. You are doing well even though it feels like a hard slog.
With regards to the basic bank account, am I right in thinking you are applying online? I know it is easy to apply online but have you considered going into a branch and setting a basic account up there and then? This worked for us and we came away with the necessary sort code and account number to get things rolling.
Keep going your are doing brilliantly. The good you do comes back to you.DFW Long haul supporters No: 1340 -
hello...! i have just applied over the phone as my nearest COOP branch is not open at the weekends...typical! I work crazy hours during the week with no lunch hour (don't ask) so getting to another branch just isn't possible at the moment...I'll just have to wait until I hear back next week."happiness is...positive cashflow!":j0
