Surely the manager, by refusing to cooperate with the police investigation (refusing to hand over tapes) is committing the offence of obstructing the police in the course of their duty?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

What does R & R stand for?
Rude & riotous?
I've never heard this term before and inquiring minds want to know
It's Refund and replace or something along those lines, was used to describe the old tesco policy where if an item was priced differently at the checkout from the shelf you got the item plus a cash refund. THe policy ended a while ago when it began to get out of hand, the purpose was to apologise for errors but many interpreted it as a game of searching for errors and getting things they didn't actually want for free.maninthestreet wrote: »Surely the manager, by refusing to cooperate with the police investigation (refusing to hand over tapes) is committing the offence of obstructing the police in the course of their duty?
Possibly (provided the tapes exist) but have you ever reported a common assault? It's a petty offence that the Police tend not to be able to care less about. If someone obstructs the investigation it's much less likely to result in a charge than if they were doing the same for a murder on the premises.Bought, not Brought0 -

Refund and Retain, but the principle is the same!I agree, it did get out of hand, people were going shopping solely for the purposes of making a profit. I got refunds a few times, but only on items that I would have bought anyway.
I agree about the possibility of the police prosecuting Tesco, it is very unlikely. However I do question how unhelpful (or not) Tesco are being in reality. If the store does not have regular security, they will be well aware of how important the police could be to them. I do doubt whether they would sacrifice such a valuable resource by being as unhelpful as the OP is suggesting?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I think Bamber is correct, police care very little about this sort of random, vicious attack when they have to search for evidence.
If Tesco have deliberately been unco-operative then shame on them as there is now likely to be another nutter trawling the streets who knows he is above the law.0 -
We don't know if it is the store who are not cooperating-the police might just be saying that.0

sorry but what is r&r0

True, but I was responding to the implications that Tesco might have a motive that might make them less than helpful.
They may have genuinely been unable to help, but if what has been suggested is true then they would be complicit. I hope they weren't.
I never got involved in all the r& r stuff, didn't even know about it till it had stopped. There seemed to be a lot of people on here with the sole purpose of abusing a good and fair system.
Getting back to the attack - anyone who has ever experienced this kind of vicious and random act would not want ANYTHING to deter police from finding the attacker so they can at least find out why.;)0 -
I think, if you're a victim of an assualt you can claim for compensation from the Government if you don't know who the attacker was. I know someone who was out one night and got beat up by a bunch of lads. No one had a clue who they were but the victim got awarded money. If you know who did it, and they got prosecuted then you'd have to claim compensation from the attacker. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
