Never mind Red, chin up hun ((Hug))
Thanks Lou. On the positive side, I didn't know that the organisation involved had an office here, so will keep an eye on them in future in case anything else comes up.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Yes keep your eyes peeled on that one Red xx
Just have to keep plugging away until you see the right job for you, keep checking every day as some days there doesnt seem to be anything around and then all of a sudden there are loads. Fingers crossed that you find something soon hun xBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
You could always send your CV in anyway, see if they bite - tell them you're on the lookout and would like to work for their organisation?? If they're not flooded, sometimes they admire initiative like that. Sorry you missed the cutoff date tho, thats a bummer.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

That's an idea, am not sure if I'll get a chance today - still really busy at work and busy tonight. Quite annoying that it was on that site on the day it closed! Still trying to think on the positive side - it did at least give me the hope that there are jobs out there that I'd enjoy more, it was more of a data analysis type thing than purely admin. I started an online course in SQL a while back (had used it a bit in my previous job), which would be useful for that sort of thing, so it's spurred me on to get that properly finished as well.
Had Spanish class last night, though finished early as the teacher was losing her voice! Am still enjoying it, it's good practise, but not sure that I'm learning much. Have found some other classes which I'm going to look into for next year, which have more reading and writing, and seem to go to a higher level.
Right... must work!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Well, keeping your current level of expertise is important too.... but to be honest, I think if you're going to go where you're aiming, you'll need to study outside the Adult Ed system. My cousin, for instance (in quite a small town) became fluent in Italian by means of private conversational classes - 3 of them per class, I think.
Just printed out the first mystery shop info - I'm exhausted already! Off for a cuppa coffee. This homeworking isn't always a lark!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Have decided to send a quick email re that job, to see if they'll accept a late application (not holding my breath as it's a government agency but we'll see) - do you think I should send my CV with it, or just wait and see what they say?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I hope you have had some luck with speculative e mail.xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

No reply so far - did look on their website though and it does sound as if you can send in applications at any time which they keep on file for when vacancies come up. Will keep you posted!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Well, that sounds good - and a follow up phone after 6 or 7 working days might not go amiss either. Very pleasant, of course. Good luck! Sorry I wasn't on earlier - between the phone calls and actual work, I've only just got back, and still got to do the inputting, bah.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
