Ah that sounds fun! :D I do actually know someone who runs a bar/ club but not sure I'd be much use behind a bar. Still, I'll have a good look round over the weekend, I'd be just as well doing something to raise money during my evenings, it's not as if I have a busy social life getting in the way!

I'm rubbish behind a bar, or I was - I shared a part time job with 2 other students, and I got comments from the manager that I "wasn't as confident as the others".... I suppose it was quite a long time ago tho ...:o

I think I'm happier on the other side of the bar :rotfl:

Found a few shops that are already recruiting for Christmas temps so got some to think about - still not totally decided if I want to do it or not.

Right, off to work, only in for the morning, then I'm having an afternoon in my lovely clean flat (had a good clear up last night) and off out this evening :)

Oh yes and why is Amazon sending me emails about '50% off Travel and Language books' - cruel temptation!

Hmm. A few things have come up this morning that have made me have a good think about my financial situation (for 'situation' read 'mess') and I think the second job might almost be a necessity. I think I've only been anywhere near financially 'comfortable' for about a year out of the last ten - when I was living with my ex and we had two half decent salaries coming in and not too many outgoings. The constant struggling and juggling just to get through the month is wearing me down - you know, most of the time you just get on with it, but sometimes it really hits you? :(

In an attempt not to be entirely negative - I've downloaded the forms for applying for housing benefit, and to join the council housing list - I did do that before I moved here a couple of years ago but never updated my details so will have lapsed. It's unlikely I'll get anything but I think it's worth being on for the future.

    OK, better do some work.

Definitely. You go for what you're entitled to. Sorry the day to dayness of it all is wearing you down - I know that feeling well, for sure, tho I'm not there quite at the moment... again, for me, something good in the immediate present day helps, and something for the long term. Got to be off now, but I'll 'see' you tomorrow. Take care.

  • Hiya Red,
I used to work 3 jobs, for most of my working life I've had more than 1. But at the moment working as a live-in-carer, it means I only have just the one, but am 24/7 so wouldn't be able to fit in anything else. It does have a really good wage though and has speeded up my cash, making me DF other than my mortgage and I'm bashing away at that too.
So if you can manage a second job then go for it and the best way to use second income is to pay it off your debt, It worked for me.

Afternoon all.. still busy at work, though it'll only last another week or maybe two at a push until things settle down to normal boredom levels again.

Been distracted by other stuff over the last few days, but I did get a chance to have a look at Christmas jobs and there's a few possibilities. Something is making me hesitate about it, but I'm not sure what - I know I won't make a massive amount, especially with tax being taken off when I already work full time, but it's got to be worth it. Am a bit worried about not having enough energy, which is silly really.

I did also see a full time job when I was looking around which sounded good but still thinking about whether to apply or not, it's not a huge difference in salary and I'm kind of thinking 'better the devil you know' at the moment!

Really trying to think positively, so while my general lack of money is still upsetting me, it's not the end of the world. Should get my new lease this week so can send off the housing benefit forms and keep my fingers crossed.

All I have to say today is grrr. Saw a job last night (full time) that looked really interesting, better than the one I mentioned above.. had been newly posted on a local jobs site yesterday and the closing date was.. 10am yesterday morning!

    Sigh.
