Bank Lost My Money - Advice Please
Comments
-
Even paying in cash over the counter doesn't always ensure it gets to where it should. Someone who I trust , who used to work for a bank, advised me never to pay in cash to charities etc over the counter as these were sometimes pocketed by staff as the recipient was not expecting them - so they wouldn't be flagged up as missing transactions:eek: I hope this is not longer possible with the computerised systems, but has made me very untrusting of banks.
Locklock - I wish I could offer you some advice. I really hope you get the money back. Just keep on at them, going higher up the company each time if you don't get any satisfaction. Fingers crossed it's just got held up somewhere and will appear in your account soon.0 -
Hi All,
Well firstly if nothing else I am getting to grips with how the forum works and even if I haven't properly worked out the thankyou thing ..thankyou all.
NUF..the police say that the bank need to report it as it happened on their premises. but the bank said if they did that they'd be more or less admitting they are pointing the finger at their staff...I told the bank I had a right to know what's happened to my money and it needs to be reported.
I will give the police officer a couple more days then contact her (she could well be on rest days at the mo)
I work Saturdays too...it really is a mission to get parked at my bank hence daughter may drop it off on her way to work, as she did. I'm self employed I work odd hours it's not always easy to get there.
It's not Nat West but...not far off the mark there....;)
I suppose now it's a letter to H.O once I hear back from the police officer. I had thought of contacting the local paper...maybe they should be named and shamed...
I sincerely hope its not the bank I think it is - R-*-*
????
I have to say I have always had first class service from them, I am sorry to hear that you havent, please dont let this put you off though.
Contact customer service who are always friendly and request for an investigation to be started without delay, they WILL pass the report on to there security department which will carry out a investigation against the branch and interview all staff!DELETE ACCOUNT.

I would be wary about the newspaper bit - I'm assuming if it went to court the onus would be on you to prove that it was ever posted in the first place - if you can't, would it be considered libel / slander?0 -
No ATM at my branch.
I am worried about saying too much more on here as I don't know who reads these forums. I am responding to their letter and will see what happens. Then I will escalate it as I expect will be necessary. I will keep you, as much as possible, posted which is more than what happened to my money onto my a/c.
Thanks everyone for advice x0 -

jonesMUFCforever wrote: »Who actually dropped the money in, your first post indicated you did but unless I'm reading the above post incorrectly your daughter did?
I dont mean to put a damper on this BUT I sincerely dont believe RBS would lose money like this, its possible, but rare.
I wnated to let you know that should a criminal investigation be started by the Police it may lead to your daughter being arrested for theft - its not that she has stolen it but they have to do an interview under caution and that will mean she will be arrested and interviewed and IF it later is discovered that she did take it, i.e by CCTV then she would be charged and you WONT be able to stop and charges happening as even if you dropped the theft charge it would be a charge for "wasting Police time" which carries a very heavy fine, possibly more serious.
I am not saying your daughter has taken the money, please do not think that but I strongly advise you to sit down and talk to your daughter and see if shes having money problems/or even lost it by misake - it happens.
I would just also add, if a full investigation is carried out, and it is discovered by the bank that your daughter delivered the money then that will be the banks defence - which then your case will fall apart against the bank and before anyone says it, NO you cant lie and say you delivered it as the bank may obtain evidence to prove otherwise.
A word of advice
