What you do is change banks.0

It's a shame for what happened to you, but at least you know not to do it again.
Is there not some banks that let you post cash through the ATM? I've done this before with the Bank of Scotland.0 -
As an ex bank cashier, if someone mentioned to me that they were putting money in to the letter box I would have advised them not to. We had an instance where some money went missing that had just been put in the letter box, and we suspected that it was the cleaner.
In my experience if you are paying in cash you always always always need to use a method whereby you get a receipt otherwise you have no come back at all.
I do hope that it turns up.0 -

Doesn't help if you work in the middle of a business park in a little village which is miles from anywhere including from your own home with nothing except a train station, which has trains that run every half hour.
BTW I have more than one bank account now mainly due to this and the bank I used changing their staff to people who refused to follow simple instructions.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I tried to pay some cash into a Lloyds branch a while back. There were no cashier services available at the time and when Iqueried it with the manager, she old me to fill in an envelope and post it in the paying in postbox.
She told me that they have CCTV pointing directly at the area and that my money was safe and if there were any queries, then I would be contacted directly.
OP - someone has committed theft. I think you need to step up your complaint a little......and you need to get the bank to confirm that they have seen the CCTV footage."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
there's a bank local to me that has cleaners in at an hour when there can't possibly be any branch staff in. bet they're agency staff too, if so their references quite possibly haven't even been checked (i was pally with one of my referees and when i was temping maybe 1 in 4 agencies actually checked me out with her).0

Many many years ago when I first started to work we found out that our cleaner was 'sub contracting' the cleaning to kids!!!!0

Hi All,
Well firstly if nothing else I am getting to grips with how the forum works and even if I haven't properly worked out the thankyou thing ..thankyou all.
NUF..the police say that the bank need to report it as it happened on their premises. but the bank said if they did that they'd be more or less admitting they are pointing the finger at their staff...I told the bank I had a right to know what's happened to my money and it needs to be reported.
I will give the police officer a couple more days then contact her (she could well be on rest days at the mo)
I work Saturdays too...it really is a mission to get parked at my bank hence daughter may drop it off on her way to work, as she did. I'm self employed I work odd hours it's not always easy to get there.
It's not Nat West but...not far off the mark there....;)
I suppose now it's a letter to H.O once I hear back from the police officer. I had thought of contacting the local paper...maybe they should be named and shamed...0 -
Why couldn't you have used the cash machine to pay the money in. That's what I do whenever I need to pay anything in and the bank is closed that way I get a receipt and the machine will be a lot more secure than posting it through a letterbox. I would have never thought to do that.0
