I too have Bamix - a requested christmas present from OH, who nearly choked when he saw the price:eek: , but I love it!! I keep it on the worktop and use it almost daily, it is great for whizzing peppers and onions to a pulp so the kids don't realise they are eating it :rotfl: . Best christmas present I have had for years and most definitely the most used.DD1 - May 02 8lbs 6oz
DD2 - June 05 10lbs 6oz
DD3 - 24th Jan 11 7lbs 9oz

Had fun using mine today. Makes such light unsmelly hands work of garlic! I whizzed an onion with some in the little dish and mixed it with cans of tomatoes (also whizzed in the bamix), making my first HM pizza sauce. Used my last jar of Bertolli and vowed I wasn't going to get any more, even for back up. I can have a tub in the freezer for back up! I think it has too much garlic in it!
My OH gets what he wants in the way of tools etc, so is generally happy for me to do the same, do try not to be extravagant."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I love my Bamix - I've had it nearly 9 years now and it's still going strong. It's fantastic at chopping, whipping etc. Definately worth the extra money. So little money - so much time :mad:0

This is turning into a Bamix thread! Never mind. My MIL said that her mother had had a Bamix many years ago, which was still going strong at the time of her death, reckoned she had had it 10's of years. She was definitely OS>"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Pizza sauce was great, used on pizza yesterday evening, needs to be reduced a bit more, or have a bit more tom puree in it. Bit too much garlic maybe, but they all liked it. I'm going to freeze the rest.
Am going to have a go at Dee's red pepper hummus recipe I think, trying to eat to Low Glycemic load at the moment, so this could be a good lunch."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Just bought my first Bamix at the Good Food Show. I am a bit fed up as they said it had a RRP of £200 and were on offer for £140. After a search on the web when I got home I found my new "swissline model" for £200! So I was real pleased. :j However, as an avid web searcher I did not stop there (why oh why??) and then found the same model (and package) for £125, so I am now gutted.
Oh well, live and learn...... Just hope it lives up to my expectations and the OH does not kill me when it appears on the AMEX statement. :eek:I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -
Made the same mistake myself, bought the Bamix Swissline at the show - a friend came round and saw me using it. He then went and bought one from Juiceland for £124.95. Apparently they sell it without the book and DVD as they mainly sell to caterers but to be honest - I've never even looked at a recipe in mine or watched the DVD. http://www.juiceland.co.uk/item--Bamix-Swissline-Stick-Blender--BASWISS.html0

Hubby noticed this morning in our local branch of Tesco's that there is a handblender set on special offer at only £10, for anyone wanting to have a crack at making soups, houmous etc.
I can't do those clever little blue link thingies but if you go onto Tesco Online and type in the item number of 203 4542 it should bring it up for you. Hope that is of interest to someone and happy cooking.0 -
It's also on sale in Mr T's, well in my one anyway! I've got one and it's great cos the blender bit is metal so doesn't melt when you blend hot soups and touch the bottom of the pan! Great little pot for chopping things too.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
