hi
Are the metal ones more durable ?
all the braun ones i can find are plastic not metal.

I have found a kenwood one that is metal - anyone got one of these?

I've had a Braun one for about 10 years - never gone wrong, very primitive, just the stick, no extra bits, but still going strong today. About 5 years ago I got overexcited by the Bamix in the Lakeland catalogue (source of many delights, but also some too-expensive, not brilliant things) and bought one of those. I just couldn't get it to do all the chopping and stuff they said it did so I gave it to my daughter for baby purees and as far as I can see she hates it too and never uses it. I'd have a Braun (now with extra interesting bits) every time....but I do know these things are very individual, could you borrow a Bamix if that's what you're thinking of , just to see how you get on with it?0

I have found a Bamix on Amazon for £91 is it worth paying this much for a hand blender?????? Might have a look at Quidco and see what I can find through them.
I think so! I was wary about spending that on a piece of kit, but it's fabulous. As I said earlier, my tesco one melted the first time I used it!
There are several folks here that have them and all are happy I believe."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I doubt I could borrow a Bamix, where we live they have only just started using electric hand whisks!!! LOL. (We live in sheltered housing)
I wondered which model of Braun you have, I rather fancy one that will chop herbs etc and puree garlic as I use a lot of both. The one I had, which is now in the bin, was a cheapie from Tesco, but I do love the way it puree's soup. I hate having to clean ood processor, to be honest I cannot rememebr the last time I used it....may be I should ebay it.......I still have the box somewhere. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
cheapest bamix seem to be these at the moment:
£69
http://www.styleforhome.co.uk/bamix-...l?currency=GBP
or this Gordon Ramsey one for £99:
http://www.styleforhome.co.uk/index....roducts_id=109
and now i have read about them i want a "slicey" too for £45...
but if this would then replace my very old and not very good food processesor then maybe that would be ok

I went onto the style for home site, last night and ended up buying the Bamix and slicey, we eat a lot of coleslaw and I think this will save me a packet. I now have to decide what to do with the kenwood food processor Ihave sitting in the cupboard gathering dust, I have only used it a few times , hate the thing, its so difficult to clean.........I have a kenwood handmixer I bought for the caravan years ago, its brilliant for cakes, so I will have bit more room in my kitchen cupboard when the food mixer has gone.
I asked OH before I bought the Bamix, though he would blench at the price, but no...told me to go ahead and get it, so I took him at his word.
Should get it sometime next week..........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
'congratulations"
i resisted buying last night - as had to watch holby - but who knows what will happen tonight;)
which one did you buy?
i have not worked out the differences between them yet
i need time to browse without kids pressing buttons for me:rolleyes:

I bought the de luxe model with a 600ml canister and also the chopper thingy..
I was so suprised when OH said 'well if you want it, get it' almost collapsed...but ordered it quick before he changed his mitnd. I have a Kenwood food proccesor which I hate because its so difficult to clean. the electirc hand beater I bought years ago is great for making cakes...... so I think the bamix should fill in with the other jobs..........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Oooh! My DH is always a believer in getting good quality 'power tools' so I figure I deserve the same treatment! You know, better quality, more powerful motor."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
