  • I got a £10 one from Argos, still going 6 years later...

I'd say go cheaper, but read the reviews so you're getting something that'll last more then a few months...
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

Thank you very much - what a lot of different ones out there ! I had a Bamix which I hated and in the end Lakeland gave me my money back with no quibble and I sent it back - really couldn't get it to do anything. Now I'm just wondering if I had a dud one ! I think I need to do some homework on what sorts of things I might do with it in future. I have a mini processor which is awful so if I can replace that with a gadget for the stick blender that would be good, and I also make quite a lot of veg purees....time for some thought I feel, but this has been very helpful indeed, and I thank everyone

I saw one in Sainsbobs value type economy range for £5 recently. I'll probably give that a go next. I think A Girl Called Jack mentioned it as reliable.
    Better is good enough.
  • I have a kenwood triblade - for those considering it

don't bother - I've scratched the hell out of copper pans tinning with it - so thats -£60 !
and it wont puree lumps bigger than about 6mm as the access to the blade is quite small
it creates a strong pull to the base of a container - so you cant use it not on the bottom of a bowl or pan to get at bigger lumps
the masher is only good for potatoes, wont mash carrots bananas..swede...artichokes...anything else nearly half of the parts cant be put in the dishwasher
theres a small rubber ring on one of the spindles which you will instantly loose..and this is there because the parts don't all fit properly together
oh and the masher blade doesn't come off easily - you need to grip the spindle with a pair of pliers if you want to clean it..

the buttons are not just discreet - but almost invisible...
another piece of useless ....*****! ..designed by someone who dosnt cook....it makes me sooooo mad that these things arn't properly "field" tested

Yesterday I collected the one left at the holiday chalet by a guest and now I come to think of it, I seem to remember chucking out a box that said £8 on it a few months ago. It did the curried parsnip soup without any trouble so that's a start.

Cheesewright the Proline also had such a strong suck on it that it pulled down to the bottom of the saucepans, but the Morrison's one on low doesn't at all. I always put the food to be zazzed in a 2 litre plastic jug to deal with it now as it would be cheaper to replace that if the blade tore up the lining.
    Better is good enough.
