It's here Len - don't worry about trying to read the whole thread, it's too long and half of it is missing anyway.

Evening! Had a very DFW day today (almost)!

I had booked a trip through my works sports and social club to go to the National Space Centre in Leicester. I just booked for Ryan and me, thinking Stu wouldn't be able to get the day off work, and hoping my Mum and Dad would have Natasha for the day.

As it happened, I couldn't get a babysitter, but Stu managed to get the day off - but the tickets were all sold out, so he was going to stay at home with Natasha.

The tickets were only £7 each I think, and that included coach travel, so a MASSIVE bargain.

This morning, Stu drove us to work to catch the coach, and just as he was about to drive off, someone got on the coach to say that 2 people had cancelled. So I cheekily asked if it was too late for Stu and Natasha to take their place.

Five minutes later, Stu, Natasha (and baby seat) were all strapped in and ready to go, and the pushchair was in the luggage hold! Luckily, we always carry spare nappies and wipes, bottled water and baby-friendly snacks with us in the car, so we had everything we needed apart from lunch.

I offered to pay, but they said Natasha would have been free anyway, and the couple who backed out had cancelled too late to get a refund, so the tickets were paid for and we wouldn't need to pay anything (I've said that if there's any problem though, I will happily pay for Stu's ticket, only another £7).

So all four of us had a fantastic day out for £14! :T (~ish.......see below)

I would really recommend the Space Centre to anyone who has kids who are interested in that sort of thing. There was quite a bit of queueing for certain things because it was busy (school holidays), but the Space Theatre is worth the entry cost on it's own. It's absolutely awesome, a huge planetarium type thing, where they project the story of a star, from the moment it is formed to the moment it dies. Soooo spectacular, and interesting enough to keep a 7 year old (and even a 1 year old) completely engrossed.

I will post a couple of pics in a second, but you couldn't take photos in the Space Theatre for copyright reasons.

Oh, and the reason it was only 'almost' a DFW day was that we had to buy extra sandwiches there, which cost £3.90 for two kids jam sandwiches!!!

    Sounds a fantastic day hun!!!

I'm not sure my two are interested in space stuff but if they are, I will take them! I remember when I was a kid going to the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida and hated it! lol

Fab photos Mrs S, but did you not pay attention? There are too many 'thingy' and 'thing' in your photo descriptions :)

Well, Ryan is in bed - he would know the proper names but I'm a bit blonde when it comes to all that sort of stuff. My interest in space is more along the lines of 'oooh, pretty stars'.

:rotfl:Have you seen a proper night sky for real? It is truly magical. I once stood there for 15 minutes head cocked just staring at the stars. You can see everything; All the stars, shooting stars and even satellites orbiting.
