    Aww thanks Mrs S :)

Any tips on the bedtime thing then - I have just handed a VERY grumpy Elliot to his dad who will rock him to sleep hopefully, but not before a tantrum :( It is so tiring. I don't know where we went wrong. I tried the whole thing of putting him down awake but he gets hysterical and I - we - can't leave him to cry :( It's a wonder I am not back on the booze :p

Roll on the teenage years?

Dont............trust me, I worry my eyes out with my 13 and 15 year old boys.

Oldest has just found himself his 1st girlfriend:eek:

I wish they were both little again............at least then I had total control:rotfl:
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

Sorry to disappoint you, but nope

Mine are still bad, just in different ways. They either refuse to go to bed, or beg to bunk in with me if their dad is working :D

I wish I could give you tips on bedtimes - Ryan doesn't go to sleep until we do (or sometimes AFTER we do), and yet Natasha can be put in her cot awake and she just cuddles her cuddle cloth and sucks her thumb, and off she goes. She's been a bit more tricky tonight because she's teething and has a bit of a cold, but she's fast asleep now.

I think kids are either good sleepers or not good sleepers, and all the bedtime routines in the world will only nudge them a little bit in the right direction.

    DD,
I was a hard core Mom and did 'The contented Baby Book' so did let mine cry etc. There are no right or wrong ways, it's just what you feel comfortable with.

Is he in bed with you?

oops, posted that a bit prematurely...

How often does he sleep in the day? (He's 9 months now isnt he?)

What I did worked for us, mine were sleeping thru from 10 weeks, but saying that, they both come into bed with me now and wake me up! lol

Thanks Louise and Spud, I am a broken woman you know, looking forward to that is all I have!

    :p

Snags I console myself with that thought - that he is how he is - and also that if there were a second, surely, SURELY I could not be that unlucky?!

Bun he is in bed with me as he feeds in the night - I can't bring myself to move him until he sleeps through! I have a bedside cot, he starts off in there and then at some point rolls into my back

It could be worse, and he is a very happy baby, just... high maintenance...

The only way I can get my kids in bed at a reasonable hour is to let then listen to one of their audio books. They have loads, including all the Harry Potter books on CD and they love them. They go to bed with a different CD each night, one CD is around an hour and is a small portion of the book - each HP book is on around 10 or 12 CDs. It's like being read to sleep by a professional and they never get to the end of a CD before they're asleep ;)

He is dropping a nap which makes it harder I think - currently he naps around 10-11 and then 2/3 - 3/4/5 (that can vary a LOT)

He is asleep and going to bed now... shhhhh :)
