Sorry, this isn't money related at all, so feel free to skip it...lol!
One of the other Mums came up to chat to me this morning at school. This particular Mum has never spoken to me in all the time we have been going to that school, and I once said 'hi' to her when I saw her in Next (I was windowshopping...), and she barely acknowledged me.
But for the past few days, she has been making little comments, like 'Aww, what a cute baby', and 'Oh, look at her sweet little dress'.... I wouldn't have thought anything of it at all, except that she seems to have made a point of NOT speaking in the past.
Today, she said 'oh, I can't stand next to you, your baby makes me too broody', and then laughed, so we started chatting, and out of nowhere she said 'I'd love another one, but it's a hard decision because I've got one son who is deaf (her son is in Ryan's class and wears hearing aides....such a cute little lad and he copes very well), and one son WHO HAS ASPERGERS SYNDROME'!!! (she didn't shout it, that was just me emphasizing it for dramatic effect!)
I replied that Ryan has Aspergers Syndrome too, and she seemed surprised, but I reckon that someone must have told her about Ryan, which is why she has been trying to start a conversation with me for the last few days (I now also recall her talking loudly about CAMHS to someone else, while she was stood within earshot of me the other day, which I think in hindsight may have been for my benefit, although at the time I didn't realise).
She introduced me to her son and oh my goodness, it was like looking at Ryan - they don't exactly look alike, but they have the same expression in their eyes. It sort of chilled me but made my heart go out to him at the same time.
We finished our coversation today with her saying 'I'll have to give you my number and we can get together for a chat'. Her son only got his diagnosis 2 weeks ago, and already the school has resources in place to help him, which is probably because they are already up to speed on dealing with autism spectrum conditions because of Ryan. Before Ryan, they haven't had a diagnosed case of Aspergers at the school, and suddenly 2 in the same term! In a way I envy her, because she wont have quite the same battle with the school that we have had, but at the same time, I recognised the bewildered, terrified look in her eyes, and I wouldn't go back to those early days of being newly diagnosed again if you paid me a million pounds.
Isn't it weird how you can suddenly find yourself getting on with someome when life throws you together for some reason - she actually seems like a nice lady - she looked really lost when she was talking about courses, support groups etc, and I really want to help her if I can.
Some people are meant to be in our lives.
If you dont meet them the way fate first intended then *it* will throw another course into the equation.
You are meant to be in this ladies life, even if just for a short period to help her through this tough time.
I say things happen for a reason.
I helped a lady via the web from Paraguay who's son was born with the same condition as little legs only she came VERY close to losing him. To this day she calls me her angel. I say the purpose of little leg's being born as she was was for me to help her.
She is now a point of contact at her local hospital for other mums.
I'm wittering but I'm sure you see where I'm going/coming from.
Their conditions may not be *fair* but they arent in vain either.

I think the lady just sat down at your table and is going to be there for the next few stops. No more travelling in the next carriage for you and herand I think you are lovely for being so supportive already.
