Why are some people on here being so nasty?

I think its nasty hereYes, I go on other internet forums (but none so avidly as MSE now.) In fact, I even am admin on one (although I don't do any admin, its too technical, lol, but for some reason they wanted me to be admin) We have, as there is here, a debating culture on a subject we feel passionate about but a mandatory requirement of courtesy.
Its never got as personal as it goes here sometimes. I'm also a member of a political (and other big issues) forum (invite only sadly) and people on there are banned for personal attacks as shown here.

Hi Lostinrates,
You can't find it all that nasty as you pop in rather a lot!!Maybe, since getting rid of the telly, I am just missing Eastenders more than I will allow myself to believe*, and so fill that void in my life with the day to day drudge, passion, love and arguements in the House Prices board instead?
*disclaimer - pure lie as I didn't watch that pap, but it can be used as an excuse for my getting entertainment from other posters disagreements, then I don't look too much like a b*tch0 -

Yep, I find it informative and entertaining too (and addictive!) so the page is open most of the day, I hit refresh between other computer tasks or every time a Iwalk past and I am fairly robust, but I do hate seeing people shot down who quite obviously aren't.
The essence of what I'm trying to say is that he great posts would still be great without the nastiness!
(I also don't watch tv;) -unless its a thursday!)0 -

What do I miss on a Thursday?
Have to admit, there is one programme I still have to watch via BBCi, - Dr Who!! (Should I admit that?) In my defence, it is purely down to a rather girly crush I have on David Tennant0 -
For the record.. Dithering Dad did not find flaws or holes in my argument, he was reading between the lines and mouthing off at evey opportunity to the extent that I couldn't be ar£ed to reply and justify myself any longer. :j
He is now on my ignore list so I don't have to endure or read his drivel any further. I just hope he sinks in the next few years and people laugh and mock him and berate him as much as his has others.
Ps: LillyJ.. stick around.. just ignore the few who haven't managed to leave the playground behind them after school.0 -

He is a poor excuse of a human being... let alone a man. :rotfl:
Let it go Lizzy, just, let it go. :rolleyes2
Move along people, no more abortive house purchase tales here. Not any longer, that story has been blown. Move along please...
Erm, there are only two types of 'human being'; man and woman. So either you're saying "He is a poor excuse for a man... let alone a man" or you're saying "He is a poor excuse for a woman... let alone a man".
Which one is it? If it's the latter, then isn't that a bit disparaging towards women? If it's the former, then it doesn't really make any sense - much like your abortive house purchase story....Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

Lost me there, DDad. I read it as ' to be a poor excuse for a man is really bad'.
Not that it matters, as she has you on ignore so your replying to her post in order to further wind her up was pointless, you trouble maker, you!......
However, if I were to quote it, would she then see it? Do you see the posts from people on your ignore list if someone else quotes them? Am I equally a trouble maker if I quote it?
Oh, what the hell - I'm going to quote you, anyway0 -

No, I quoted it correctly but something wiped my original post, so I quoted it again but by the time I saved it for the second time, she had changed the original text. Now she's totally deleted the whole 'poor excuse' message and so ends the whole convoluted saga of the 'human being/man'.
As far as being on 'Ignore' is concerned, the fact that she changed the 'poor excuse' thing means that she read my post. She's fixated on me I'm afraid and can't stay away. I liken it to a moth being attracted to a flame.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)
