hi, we came back from a 4nite stay at camber sands last friday and the best advice i can give anyone going here is.. don't go!! We had an awful time with three under threes there was hardly anything to do. When it rained (which was most of the time) all the outdoor activities were closed and the indoor ones weren't on! We were told as it wasn't peak season they didnt run most activities. The swimming pool was probably the best thing, although there was sand in the pool, people smoking in the doorway and the showers were way too hot! Please take extra blankets as the sofa bed is awful, the accomodation smelt horrible, and was really dirty. Most of the food areas were closed until 5ish so you had to either buy from the expensive shop on the corner or go round to the "interesting pub" down the road. My children were glad to get home and we are not going back, just glad it was free! good luck hope you have more fun than we did! b.t.w the seagulls are GIANT and very noisy in the early hours lol!

What a shame you had a horrible time, most of our experiences have been good (So far...) Had a few problems with chalets and fixtures, but pontins have always been happy to sort them out.

Entertainment can be a bit dismal off peak, (and in season...XMAS entertainment at Prestatyn was pretty lame and not very festive!!)

I think the best thing to do really is just use pontins as a base...unless there is something on entertainment wise you really really fancy..

What a shame you had bad weather, that always makes things seem worse than they are... We use the camp as a base to explore the surrounding area , its cheaper than B & B so entertainments etc or the lack of it don't really bother us...also tend to find interesting places to eat away from the camp.. Noisy Seagulls are par for the course at the seaside .. But I can only guess how your littlies were disappointed...
hey Tanith...any places of interest you could suggest?????

Oh and how much is it to hire things there...thinking of brining our microwave...our toaster....things like that....also is it worth an upgrade too?

This is a good place to look for stuff to do www.1066country.com the Rye & Camber and the Countryside buttons are especially usefull..

We always book a Club class chalet as it comes equiped with all the things you mention and you don't have to pay for any electricity... so its well worth it .. and they are a little more modern and nicer...

We are going to visit Hever Castle (Anne Boleyns home) courtesy of Tesco clubcard deals as its on our way to Pontins... I have always wanted to visit it...

  • i was at camber for 4 days from 9 june and i have nothing bad to say about the place as you can read in earlier posts i didnt even think it was dirty obviously wouldnt eat off the floor but there you go. also forgot about the seagull they are giant but they keep away from ya they scared the crap out of me when we first booked in as i just opened the door to go out and it was sitting there shouting at me for food, my son archie thought it was great and kept calling it a chicken or duck and wanting to play with them. the only thing that spoiled it for me was my boyfriends friends wife and hes stepdad that decided to get drunk all day everyday and be a pain. so my advice is go alone or spend the hole time avoiding people like we had to

My one's a freebie too, going a week on Monday, the 30th. Tried calling Camber for an upgrade a week or 2 back and got told they wouldnt upgrade cos it was a comp freebie. I said I wanted to pay for an upgrade, but they wouldnt have any of it.......??
