Ah yes I'd forgotten you'd switched the fridge and freezer off. Well done :T
A big turkey would be a challenge without a fridge :eek:0 -
Every time I read this thread I switch something off / check the weather or something energy saving. Does anyone else do this?0

Have just spotted this thread and signed up to imeasure.
Will be very interesting to see the figures. We had an extension built last year and a new Vaillant boiler in January and have control panel which includes a 'weather compensator' which means the boiler fires up when it gets below 3c outside to stop the boiler freezing up. Bl**dy thing keeps firing in the middle of the night which means we've had to move out of the new bedroom over the garage (where the boiler is) as it keeps waking me up. Bl**dy annoying to be paying to be kept awake!
Really haven't got a clue how much we're paying for gas (other than we're being debited £80 a month) as it's taken an age to work out how the control panel works and I think probably next year I'll run the hot water off the electric rather than the boiler.Make £2025 in 2025

Had a really good week. Don't know how long it will last though, as dd finished school Friday and dh finishes today. They are a nightmare lol. Never mind it's only two weeks then we'll be back under 50kwh a wk.
- £4.27 on gas 122kWh used.
- £5.76 on electricity 48kWh used.
- £33.73 on gas
- £58.20 on electricity

Last week I used:
£1.54 on gas (44kwh)
£2.76 on electricity (23kwh)
Total spent on energy since starting imeasure (5 weeks ago):
£10.86 on gas
£13.08 on electricity
The electricity cost is inaccurate as e-on were charging me 25p a unit - I've now left them.0 -

I'm a one-person household - home all day. My place is an early 60s two bed semi-detached bungalow with a heat-stealing solid concrete floor, cavity insulation, double glazing, and 4 inches of loft insulation. I'm rarely using any heating, and running the gas boiler for a tank of hot water up to an hour a day.
Must admit that this degree of frugality is not through choice, but I don't feel I'm missing out on anything, and have got used to lower house temperatures (currently 12c) without any problems.0 -

Spent this week experimenting by having heating on for much longer hours, but lower setting, and don't think I did too bad. Will try and cut just one hour of gas usage down a day and see if that gets me to £20 instead.
Have managed to retain C rating for 2 weeks on row now:j:j
