My electric usage seems to have evened out at around £10-11 per week, but gas is still fluctuating, at least it is down by a good 5th on last weeks.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

According to the i-measure site, I spent over £42 in electricity last week! But, as it's a prepayment meter I now have, I can tell you the exact amount I spent was, in fact, £28.96 so I don't quite know how the i-measure site calculates their figures. (
Has the meter been updated since the price hikes. Please find out otherwise when they do come to next check it, you could be in for an almighty bill. According to the energy companies, it is not their fault if your meter hasn't been set to the correct tariff after a price raise. You are still liable for the extra costs once a correct meter setting has been done.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0 -

I've been on i-measure for months and had to re-register just recently when I moved house. The meter is set correctly, it's a brand new meter, only installed the week we moved into the house. The rates are based on Scottish Power's 'Comfortplus' 3-tier price plan and have been confirmed at the following:
Standing charges - £1.60 per week
Rate 1 - 12.88p per kwu day time
Rate 2 - 5.84p per kwu night time
Rate 3 - 5.18p per kwu heating (storage heaters)
From the i-measure site: "imeasure applies a standard tariff rate per kWh of gas and electricity. imeasure assumes a rate of 3.5p/kWh for gas and 12p/kWh for electricity. imeasure simply multiples your energy use for each gas and electricity by the pence per kWh. These standard tariff rates do not include standing charges or VAT nor do they take into account of dual fuel rates..."
As almost two thirds of my units are used during the night on the storage heaters, my rates are completely different from i-measure. But thank you for the concern.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Just remembered when Bas***d Gas caught me out with this one, trapping me with them for an extra year.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

OUCH! I know loads of people that's happened to and it's why I have never done fixed rate direct debits on anything, only full bill quarterly debits, as the cash is as well in my account as theirs, even with such shabby interest rates. I'm hoping my DD doesn't get caught out the same way, as she also moved house and also got a new meter installed. Her monthly DD has been set at £70, but she'll use more than that during winter as, like most places about our area, she's all electric. (No gas mains here.)I reserve the right not to spend.

Last week you spent:
- £17.57 on gas
- £11.76 on electricity
- £111.93 on gas
- £89.16 on electricity
gas down slightly
It is the coldest start to a winter for 30 years though - so under the circs ill take that!!!0 -
Gazza, congratulations on getting your dehumidifier! Mine's on practically 24/7 at the moment, because it's been such cold, damp and miserable weather (wet jackets hanging up, windows condensating etc) and I still think it's the best electrical appliance I have bought so far. Haven't used the tumble dryer at all since Mr D. Humidifier arrived!I reserve the right not to spend.

LOL!
Ive got the gus that fitted my loft insulation coming back next week as they didnt leave a gap which is adding to my condensation.
<<<<<<<wishes OH didnt use tuble drier!!! on about 3 times each day!0 -
Wow! Tumbledrier on 3 times a day! Have you got space for one of those upright airers or somewhere you could hang one of the trendy new old-fashioned ceiling hanging airers?
Now, about fairy lights on Christmas trees - mine has a LOT of tiny little bulbs everywhere, completely OTT because the set was meant for going around 2 windows and a door... are these little guys like 1w each or something?I reserve the right not to spend.

Todays readings have been taken and recorded.....
I'm really disappointed to see that our electricity has crept back upWe're up from 70kWh last week (and 76 kWh each of the previous two weeks) to 78kWh.
However, over the last 4 weeks we've totalled 300kWh, and my last bill (the previous 4 weeks) was for 321kWh -- so I suppose we're not actually doing too badly. Still hoping it will shoot down when elder DS departs on 30th (or thereabouts), as I'm sick of finding a laptop, Xbox and mobile phone charger left on 24/7
Our gas, on the other hand, has dropped from 286kWh last week (and 321kWh the previous week) to "just" 275kWh. I think this will mainly be due to the fact I was out most of Friday (so didn't over-ride the heating to leave it on all day), and also for several hours of Sunday (mid-morning to mid-afternoon, so only a short that morning instead of being kicked back in as well). Elder DS did complain on those days that he'd "had to stay in bed 'cos it's so cold" though
I've compared a couple of averages against figures from last year on my spreadsheet.
From early October to mid December 2007 we used daily averages of 21kWh (gas) and 14kWh (electricity). From early October to mid December 2008 we've used daily averages of 25kWh (gas) and 11kWh (electricity) -- so definitely looks like this year is colder !!
For the 'year' (or as close as I can get) to mid December 2007 our daily averages were 20kWh (gas) and 15kWh (electricity). For the year to mid December 2008 these figures are 20kWh (gas) and 13kWh (electricity). So over the year we've used the same for gas, but managed to cut back slightly on our electricity -- and I'm happy with this given the gas has been considerably higher over the last 10 weeks :T
We've also managed to creep back up from a 'D' rating to a 'C'
Last week you spent:- £9.31 on gas (s/sheet figure = £9.56)
- £9.36 on electricity (s/sheet figure = £8.58)
- £63.59 on gas (s/sheet figure = £70.30)
- £112.08 on electricity (s/sheet figure = £102.81)
