  • Did first reading last Monday and checked today. Have used 78 kilowatt-hour on elec and 48 on Gas. Standing charge is 20.45p for elec and 12.170 for Gas. OH not here and I really cannot understand this but I will try and cut down and see my readings next Monday. We are not high users but I do have a dishwasher and drier. I will try not to use the drier and dishwasher goes on every other day. Nothing will be left on standby and lights will be switched off when we leave a room. I already just boil enough water for use. Am collecting vouchers for free monitor which I can send for after next Sunday. If I see a drop in energy use I will be encouraged.;)

I still haven't received any reply from i-measure about how to update my details when moving house and I can't start again because it won't let me re-register my email address. So, to 7th December, I used 376 kwu of electricity and it cost me £28.76 (averaging 7.65p per unit). The livingroom is around 19C with the log fire burning and the hall/rest of house is around 15C, so I'm quite happy at that :)

Edited in: after reading how little power others use, I think I can safely say that it's folks like me that put up the national average. :D I must try and get back onto i-measure.

  • a huge spike in gas use for last week.. was really cold..

    C rating still..
45/56 mscc.. but i have noticed this goes down during the week.. was on 7 just before i put this weeks results in..

    CO2 per person 37 Kg
CO2 for the household 111 Kg

    Last week you spent:
    • £14.35 on gas
    • £10.68 on electricity
Total you have spent on energy since starting imeasure (16 weeks ago):
    • £96.55 on gas
    • £149.16 on electricity
although the gas use is quite high, as we had the heating on most of last week, im quite happy with that amount.. i would hate to think what our old boiler would have used.. also i think that when comparing these figures, it does not really mean alot as only you know how warm your house was during that period.

next week will be intresting too.. the xmas tree lights are running now(led ones tho) :)

Hello again, I have now re-registered my details under new address, but will need to wait another 4 weeks before I'll be able to see my carbon rating etc. :D Now I need to work out how to cancel my original account.

This weeks readings are now done and recorded -- and despite elder DS still being here (and using heaps of electricity which is still our 'could do better') we've actually pulled down useage of both slightly compared to last week.... I'm a bit disappointed to see we still only rate a 'D' though :(

Electricity down from 76kWh to 70kWh, and Gas down from 321kWh to 286kWh -- but we're still looking at next weeks readings leaving me bang on the same daily average over the last 12 months as the previous 12 months, and I'd hoped to improve on that

In fact, this weeks electricity is the lowest figure we've had since I started taking weekly readings -- and is also the lowest daily average based on my bills covering as far back as 31st May 2006 !!! I can only assume my new freezer is starting to show a difference, as the official figures for it implied a potential saving of 2kWhs a day :j This last week or so I've been nudging the thermostat control on it down a bit every couple of day, and keeping an eye of the temperature warning light in case it changes from green to red (which means too warm). Thus far no problems, even when it's been open for me to hunt through looking for inspiration for the next meal :)

    Last week you spent:
    • £9.70 on gas (s/sheet figure = £9.88)
    • £8.40 on electricity (s/sheet figure = £7.88)
Total you have spent on energy since starting imeasure (11 weeks ago):
    • £54.29 on gas (s/sheet figure = £60.74)
    • £102.72 on electricity (s/sheet figure = £94.23)
Against all gas/electric households our results are......

    Carbon emissions Kg CO2
    ........................Last week......Last Month
    Per Person............47 (57)...........45 (49)
    Per Household......94 (153)...........91 (125)

    Gas use as kWh

    ........................Last week......Last Month
    Per Person..........138 (197).........120 (162)
    Per Household.....277 (504).........241 (404)

    Electricity use as kWh

    ........................Last week......Last Month
    Per Person...........35 (32)..........39 (29)
    Per Household......70 (94)..........79 (81)

I'm actually watching the 'per household' figures rather than the 'per person', and will be for quite a while yet. I dropped my account from 3 people to 2 people when I lost my DH 3 weeks ago, but all the figures have been divided by 2 whilst there were 3 of us for the first 8 weeks of entering data. I should probably have left us at 3 people until the New Year though, as elder DS came home the following day -- and the Army decided not to pull him back to camp for this week, as his Christmas leave was due to start this coming Friday..... so that's going to mean 6 weeks of readings based on 2 people, but with 3 people actually here !!!

I've also just spotted that the kWh calculation for Gas in my spreadsheet (using the variable figures from my provider as my last bill) gives a different kWh useage to i-measure  And unfortunately we'd be better off using the i-measure figure :o

Since last Tuesday we're up from 56/59 to 48/58 in the Carbon Club

I got my real quarterly energy bill yesterday and am a very happy bunny. The readings were accurate and the total was £91 for the quarter. The last 2 quarterly bills were each just less than £96 so my usage has gone down a lot and that is in spite of having the ch on and using more lighting etc.

I put it down to the ecocamel and to using the remoska instead of the oven for the last few months

The thing is that we feel very comfortable and are warm and cosy and I bake/cook at least twice every day. I can`t understand mainstream people (not on this thread) who get high bills, moan and then do nothing about it. It just becomes a way of life

Looks like I need to cut back by around 1 1/2 hrs of heating a day, to come any where near the average household use. If I am honest, dont think this is likely to happen. Fingers crossed the new central heating system I am getting in jan will cut costs down so I can keep the heating as it is. Hopefully looking at my last 4 weeks of expensive fuel bills.

    Going up :)

Just checked and I'm now back on a D after about a month of being on E :)

Just checked and imeasure only converts from units to kwh by multiplying by 11.
