Apart from anything else, I have just paid my quarterly electricity bill and, despite a 67.5% price increase over the past 12 months, my bill was over £70 cheaper this year JUST because of this challenge on here - thanks for making daily meter reading feel normal and, dare I say, fun! :rotfl:

Thank goodness I have been taking a daily check, thanks to this thread, cheeky Eon managed to under-estimate my usage of both Gas & Electric prior to the changeover to price protection 17! Strangely enough I'd used more units on both than the figures they've suggested and if I didn't have that info they'd be getting more pennies than they deserve from me.....cheek! Will probably only save myself the price of the phone call but it's the principle.

Also I'm now averaging 6 kwh per day on electric and the same on gas :j. With the DSs being back at school the lack of use of playstation and tv has counteracted with the extra lighting needed with the nights drawing in.

CH not on yet but I have succumbed to the fire being on a few times, still we're using free wood from a neighbour's tree (it's ok, they know! :rotfl:, I've not been hacking it down in the dead of night) and the ashes will go down around my fruit trees as, apparently, it's meant to help them.

Good luck to everyone with their quests, we're all winners if we can reduce our usage and keep a bit more of our hard earned cash in our pockets :T

    LM

:o oh yes, have had to use tumble drier when school stuff didn't dry to wearable standards over the weekend.....conservatory just not the laundry room it used to be! :o
    :jMFWin3T2 No 20 - aim £94.9K to £65K:j

We're trying to get as much washing done while its dry. Got the winter clothing out yesterday and some of it needs a quick wash to freshen it up, will try ad get this done asap while it can still be dried outsaide, not looking forward to having wet washing hanging on radiators.
  • oooh good result whatatwit 10 / 45. If you can walk away pondering I think you've already got some semblance a life. I sit on my computer on sunday night clock watching, take a reading at midnight then wait until about 1am when imeasure allows me to submit my readings. Only six days to next sunday.:j

Hmmmm, knew it was too good to be true, I'm now 44/46  So pleased it's not just me that enjoys the meters. I just wish we could put in our own Kwh rates to get a true spending picture.

You've just given me a great idea, I have been entering my weekly readings into my own spreadsheet to calculate average daily usage and yearly useage etc, but I have now added my rates in to get actual spend in £'s per week. Thanks for the idea.

I've also added a graph of KWH per day per week so I can easily see increases/decreases.

Our gas meter is a total PITA to read....this is not going to be easy! You have to move the sofa, find a torch, get down on your hands and knees and try and squeeze your head into a small cupboard

Why don't you ask them whether they're going to be able to get the tariff info in there so we can select the correct tariff, or alternatively allow us to put our own rates in.

I'm sure that they're open to suggestions.

I have to admit, I to through all the comparison options each month until I find the one that gives me the best result!

I've been shocked by this week's readings, as I haven't had the heating except when I had guests, and both gas & elec (I guess its having to have the lights on that does it) have gone up significantly. I'm now averaging just over 11kwH/day for gas and 5kwH/day for Electricity.
  • Gas is 11 kwh / day for 13 days; electricity is 4.7 kwh / day for 13 days.

Bit more than I thought on the gas side but I am only putting it on in the evening with a short burst in the morning and keeping busy in the day time.

Phew. Just put in my readings. Still a C although again if I switch to comparing to all households with the same number of people I get a B. 30/48 for the MSE club, hmmm.

So I guess it's been cold all over the place this week and lots of people have put on their heating...
