Managed to retain 2 x C badges for last week - despite the huge increase in gas use (though I am very much the 'D' side for both!)

Dreading tomorrow's meter readings, as I've had the heating on 24/7 (as low as I can, and lower overnight than during the day) all week

But this will be (at least partially) offset by the fact i-measure should start splitting my use by 3 people instead of 2 (due to elder DS being home on leave for the next couple of weeks - I remembered to change the headcount before entering readings last Tuesday, which I needed to do for it to be used this week ;) )

Just got round to entering my meter readings from yesterday.

Electricity is exactly the same as last week - which is impressive as elder DS has been home since Monday of last week (so only a couple of days of last readings, but a full week of this)

Gas has climbed again :( But I've had the heating on practically 24/7 all week

The good news is I should have reasonable badges next week ;) My CO2 based on last weeks readings was 109kg, which imeasure calculated to 54kg per person (2 people). This weeks readings have bumped that up to 113kg, but as it's now divided between 3 of us it's only 38kg each :T

Just been to check my badges from last weeks readings, and having elder DS home on leave (so bumping up the household headcount) has paid off :D

Two 'B' badges for us :)

Well done everyone and I hope 2010 brings increased savings on the electricity/gas fronts. I won't be posting here this year but will continue to log my useage into the imeasure site for the MSE carbon club, so my atrocious figures should help you all maintain lower badges with my keeping the overall average high during winter. :D

  • Hello

I've been reading this thread with great interest. I've joined the imeasure and look forward to reducing my electricity and gas usage :)

  • Happy new year all!!

Haven't posted for a couple of weeks as I have been away seeing family over the hols. Readings are a little lower since I only had the fridge freezer on and the heating on to make sure the pipes didn't burst. Readings are an A and B but will certainly reach an E in January and February.

Gas 135 kWh; elec 8 kWh.

Although my readings are low I think they should be a fair bit higher considering the weather we have had over the past two weeks.

I put my readings into i-Measure, but forgot to post here last week:o

Christmas weeks readings rocketed up, but we had lots of visitors so I had the heating on more than usual, however, I was quite surprised by how much the Gas kWh rose as the CH wasn't on for more than a couple of hours longer than usual. The rise in electricity was due to the oven being on more than usual, baking for Christmas.

For week ending 3rd January, 2010 your household spent £20.49 in total.
Gas meter (cubic metres): £8.28 - Main electricity meter: £12.21

Gas - 184 kWh (down 98 kWh compared to last week)

Electricity - 74 kwh (down 7 kWh compared to last week)

Total carbon - 77 kg (down 23 kg on last week)

    Badges - A / A+ (A+ / A+ last week)

    4 / 43 on the MSE list.

Well done, Thrifty Girl, on being #1 this week:T

My gas and electricity accounts were updated at end of December and have only just looked at them. Good news mostly :T

    GAS
    Down on all previous December Quarters - 2006, 2007 & 2008 by between 22% and 26%. :T

    ELECTRICITY
    Down on 2006 & 2007 by just 1%:T but up on 2008 by 18%:o

    Overall quite pleased.:money:
