Line drying didn't work by the way. The weather changed before the wash had finished. Worth a try anyway.0

We had a little sunshine in Wales the other day - not enough to tempt me up a soggy garden to peg out yet. I dried a load on the radiators seeing as how they are on for some of each day anyway.
A bit to go yet I think but hopefully not long now.:)No longer half of Optimisticpair

I've joined the club. I've been measuring since it started but not logged it all in.
I don't understand how they arrive at a fairly comparable co2 figure. No longer half of Optimisticpair

Hi Optimisticpair,
Each kWh of electricity equates to 0.526 kg CO2.
Each kWh of mains gas equates to 0.208 kg CO2.
The values are based on five year rolling averages.0 -
Latest badges are 'C' against all and 'B' against similar households. I'm actually right on the brink of a 'B' for all users, so a little disappointed I didn't manage to sneak 2 'B's
Both gas and electricity have dropped this week - electricity down by 9kWh to 67kWh (surprised me as I've done extra washloads this week, and run my dryer twice!), and gas down by 80kWh to 285kWh (last time it was lower than this week was readings taken on 14th Dec)Cheryl0 -

Yay to that :T:T:T:T:T0 -
Hi been lurking a few days, I've joined your carbon club hope you don't mind. I'm an all electric house. This week I'm 25th out of 47, so guess I'm pretty 'average'. Have managed to reduce my carbon output over last few weeks by 22% by replacing my 3 night storage heaters with 5 thermostatic electric radiators. The result being we are far cosier and using less electric.
Just worked out last years annual consumption to be 16000 and have set a goal to reduce it to 13000 at the most this year. Hopefully less.
Currently on a C badge for all users at 32% below average so quite chuffed at that.
And I hung out my washing today, not quite dry as were thick towels but won't take long to air :-)0 -

Hi Jenny,
Good luck on achieving those reductions. :T:T
I nearly put my washing out earlier. I got as far as setting up my washing lines and had the washing outside but by that time, I was sooo cold I thought that nothing would dry outside so I brought everything back in again :rotfl:
Hopefully we will drying outside soon.....:D
Good Luck & Welcome0 -

Hi,
Sorry, no I mean we are only getting rated on using electricity. We use a combination of oil, coal and wood for heating and water so it's not a fair comparison for peeps who use gas to heat their home is it?No longer half of Optimisticpair

I see, that's an unfortunate limitation on imeasure.
Oil, coal are readily approximated for their carbon. Wood is a bit fiddlier but I'm sure there are average numbers for it.
It's just whether you want to do the measuring in practice.0
