    Congrats SMF2 :T

Just dealt with my readings for this week. Gas is exactly the same as last week (57kWh), and electricity has gone up 2kWh -- to 57kWh ;)

The rise in electricity isn't actually as much as I'd expected though......

Lawns were all cut this week, having skipped the previous week. Plus I decided last Thursday to see if using my carpet washer would rescue my carpets enough to make them last another 6-12 months - so I've had that running for aroud 2.5hrs since then. And I've had the vaccuum out a lot more too (more thorough use before washing, and doing again as soon they're dry enough as wetting them seems to be pulling out a shed-load of dog hairs).

The carpets I've been working on are looking a lot better (though it's taken two washes and a play with attachements on my machine to get them there), but I've still only done a small area of the house. As such, I can't see my electricity dropping much any time soon

Also did an extra washload this morning - I rarely do half loads, but had a couple of bits needed doing ASAP so it went on. I did manage to resist all temptation to throw it into the dryer for convenience though, so that's another lot line dried this year.

Well I'm still an E and an E. 76kwh gas and 67 electric. I've given up on the ratings and I'm just trying to beat myself which I think I'm managing. Electric is pretty stable really so it's gas I'm working on and it is waay waay down.

    Well done everyone else!

    I got 2Bs. 6/46 in the carbon club.Yay me!

I've turned off my pilot light and am just lighting it about 3 times a week to put the hot water on for 1 hour. Turning off the pilot light reduces my gas consumption by more than half. I'll keep doing it till I need the heating back on.

The owl has made me and my 2 teens more aware of wasting electric, I can see at a glance if somethings on in another room. I always check before bed and when we leave the house. That alone seems to have reduced our consumption by about 10kwh a week.

British gas set my DD to 35 and 48 pounds back in January when we moved in. I didn't think it would be enough, but couldn't afford to pay more. Now I am about £50 in credit and on course to be over £150 in credit by the end of August. Starting to think I could be still be in credit in the spring if I keep at it!

I wonder if their version is linked into the original or if we're going to see various companies adapting the format to suit their own pricing?

  • It's the original imeasure site with ebico styles. I can log in with my own details.

Hopefully other companies will adopt it too.

It would be interesting to see how other companies would adopt such a tool especially since some people might be on the wrong tariff. Be mighty miffed if someone had the same consumption and paid a good percentage more than their neighbour.

I wonder if many community groups or charities use or promote imeasure.

I try to recommend it to everyone, as I'm sure the figures will reach the hands of the Government somewhere along the line. Trouble is, only those people who have access to Internet and are making a conscious effort to control their power usage and carbon footprint are liable to log their figures. It helps me, so I'm happy to use it :)

This week's results show me as a 'C' all users and there's no point in the comparing similar as there are insufficient numbers to make a fair analysis. I also noticed the weekly charge is now reading £1.61 - can these new pre-payment meters be changed remotely?

Your household's total energy spend over the last 28 weeks is £584.54 (plus SC)

For week ending 21st June, 2009 your household spent £13.18 in total (plus £1.61 SC).

Electricity A Rate: £11.08 (well up on last week owing to extra cooking, baking & washing)
    Electricity B Rate: £2.10
    Electricity C Rate: £0.00
Standing Charge: £1.61 (I am sure this was £1.60 last week!)

Average weekly cost now standing at £22.49 including the standing charge.

On the plus side, I haven't had a storage heater on for over a month and haven't had the fire lit for the past few weeks, so it's saving me logs & coal.
