Just remembered that today is meter reading day - so a couple of hours later than last week !!
Gas is waaaaaay down :T Last week (lowest since October) was 80kWh. This week - despite batch cooking soup several times which meant a hob burner was on for about 4 hours, and also a mince based meal - it's down to a miserly 45 kWh :T Looking back through my records (from 2nd Jan '04) is a new all time low :T :T Previous lowest daily average was 6.6kWh (reading on 1/10/08, 15/10/08 and 22/10/08), and this week was a daily average of 6.4 kWh.
Unfortunately my electricity has shot back up  2 weeks ago was 60 kWh, last week was down to an all time low of 53 kWh, but this week is back up to 61 kWh  And (apart from DS managing to leave the landing light on overnight a couple of times - which is an energy efficient one) I've absolutley no idea why!! Didn't even have my GDs here demanding the TV as it was the school holidayOnly thing I can think of is that DS was off college - so his PC was on somewhat more..... but does it really account for that much ?!?!?!? I've not done any extra washing, so it's not that for me. I did mow the lawns on Saturday evening, but I'd done them the previous week as well - and the previous week took longer as the grass wasn't as short to start with.....

I wonder if the extra electricity people are using (me included) is being sucked up by fridges and freezers working harder in the warmer weather.
Have ordered a monitor to check how much my supposedly A rated fridge freezer is using - it seems to be running nearly constantly, which can't be economical.0 -
Most fridges, even As, need to run more in the hot weather, I think that's unavoidable. Try things like gas stoves and boiling the kettle only once or twice a day for an easier saving.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Ok I can't resist a little extra post because I looked at my gas meter today and have used just under 3 units since I last read it at lunchtime on Sunday. That's 33kwh:j:j:j and just shows that virtually all of our gas usage is on heating, since we've had it switched off since then. Between us we've had at least 3 showers a day too although I guess it was at a low temp.
Electric is probably just about normal at 48kwh although I too have been doing a lot of washing but probably a lot less TV watching.
Had to post now cos the weather is forecast to get worse and it might not be so good on sunday! But I still think it's likely to be my lowest week since records began0 -

Well done, Belfastgirl! I have stopped doing daily readings and settled for the Monday mornings only plus keeping a record of how much gets loaded onto the meter-key-thingy. I reckon I must have reached my average as I can't exactly give up cooking or washing but I'm saving on coal & logs at the moment, as I haven't had the fire lit at all. Weather has held here, other than the hail storm we had 2 nights ago, so the washing is bang up to date and always line dried.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
