Just read the meters for this week, and I'm totally perplexed
Both my gas and electricity have gone up from last week (by 11kWh for the gas and 5kWh for the electricity).
The electricity I can explain some of - I purposely mowed my back lawn and did a wash load (cold fill machine with internal water heater) before I read my meters, as this probably makes the week more like a 'normal' one. Plus younger DS has been off college ill, so that's extra hours of his PC to account for some of it too.....
But the gas??? I know the weather's not been terribly good, so I suppose the heating may have kicked in a bit extra - but the extra 11kWh equates to a 12% increase  I know I've not boosted the water heating at all this week, and running back through what we've eaten this past week, I can't see that I've used my hob more than normal either - in fact I've probably used the hob less than the previous week, as in the main I've been using up portions of meals from the freezer rather than cooking from scratch.
Can't even blame DS for any of this..... he arrived home, emptied all the rubbish from his car into my (just emptied!) dustbin, and shot out to see friends - and he's not been back yet :rolleyes2
Looks like I'm set for black marks on the badges and club ranking next weekCheryl0 -
I'll kick it off for this week -
Your household's total energy spend over the last 23 weeks is £520.29 (+ £36.80 standing charge).
For week ending 17th May, 2009 your household spent £14.57 in total (+ £1.60 standing charge)
There you go, averaging over £24 per week this year so far, reading 43 out of 44 in the chart, rated an 'E' against all households and an 'F' against the only other 'all electric' household and not a single thing I can do about it. And I still have coal and logs on top of that.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
Frugal living challenge - living on little in 2025 while frugalling towards retirement.0 -
Yeh, but you're allowed to keep chickens and ducks which a lot of us aren't.
And you have some pretty amazing scenery (and 4 legged neighbours) tooCheryl0 -
hooray back on an A for all households and flats. Takes ages to get back on there again. I think part of it was people being away for the bank holiday. First time on the top five list.:o0

Congrats on being in the top 5 AFFL :T
Just checked my results from last week......
'D' against all users (almost an E  ), and bang on average (with a D) against all G&E detached properties. Ranked 34/44Cheryl0 -
Thanks Cheryl,
Just wanted to be on there even just the once.:)0 -

Just read my meters..... I can tell elder DS spent most of the week at a friend's house, 'cos his visit home hasn't impacted my useage for once :T
Electricity is 3kWh down on last week - but still 2kWh up on the week before that. Gas is 11kWh down on last week, and back on the same as the previous week.
Pretty impressed with the gas, as I had a batch cook session on Saturday which meant my hob was on a lot more (6 portions bolognese sauce, 5 portions beef stew, and 3 portions curry added to the freezer - plus 2 portions of curry used on Sunday for my lads).
Just need to come down another 4kWh a week on the gas, then I'm paying less on my no-standing-charge tariff than I would be doing if I hadn't switched onto thatNo chance of ever getting to that on the electricity I don't think, as I'd need a 75% reduction !!!
