My Energy use Diary

Since winter, and using similar amounts of electricity, and less gas each week, I've dropped in carbon rating from an A to a D.
This week I used 11kwh of gas, and 25kwh of electricity.
Bought an electricity consumption monitor, which has confirmed my suspicion that the fridge/freezer is quite power hungry - burning circa 1.5kwh on days above 20c.0 -
Good morning and isn't it great that the weather has stayed half decent as it means no heating needed
Your household's total energy spend over the last 26 weeks is £561.00 (+£41.60 standing charge).
For week ending 7th June, 2009 your household spent £10.85 in total (+ £1.60 standing charge).
Electricity A Rate: £8.63 - daytime
Electricity B Rate: £2.22 - evenings
Electricity C Rate: £0.00 - storage heaters
The imeasure chart shows me as a 'D' on all users and an 'E' for similar all electric property/number of people, but there are only 2 others to compare with and they could have oil for hot water etc, so that's not great.
I'm really pleased with the readings but will wait until the end of the month to see how the actual figures compare with the imeasure ones. The above brings my overall weekly average down to £23.17 by the time I include the standing charge but I'm also saving on coal & logs as the fire hasn't been needed at all this past week.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Got two B's this week. Used 19 kWh of electricity. 8th on the list.0

Just checked my latest badges - D for both, but I reckon I'm right on the cusp on an E for all site, and just on the E side of average for all g&e detached.Cheryl0

My g&e are all over the place at the moment....
last week my electricity was on the up, but the gas was down
this week the electricity is on the way back down (2kWh more than the previous 'all time low' week of a fortnight ago, but 5 hours late reading the meters), but the gas is on the climb again (though not to as high as 2 weeks ago)
I can only assume it's mainly down to the weather - we've had a few colder mornings, and I know for a fact that my heating kicked in on at least one of them (wasn't up in time to check the others! central control is set to 16 degrees, but I'm not turning it off completely as I'm not prepared to freeze me, DS or either of the dogs - one of whom is short haired and the other is "getting on a bit")
This also makes me think the assumptions about electricity increases in warm weeks being due to fridges/freezers working overtime could well be what's hitting me!!Cheryl0 -
Badges for last week are both a 'D' nudging an 'E' - in fact it looks like I was close toooo close for comfort to being an E against all users.
Not expecting to do well on the electricity reading this week either - I've had the vaccuum out extra, and also washed some of my carpets - on top of mowing the lawns......Cheryl0 -
Hi meter watchers
I'm still here, just not doing my daily monitorings. My 'badges' for this week are showing as D for all households and E for similar (all 3 of us) registered properties.
Your household's total energy spend over the last 27 weeks is £571.36. (plus 27 x £1.60 standing charge)
For week ending 14th June, 2009 your household spent £10.36 in total. (plus £1.60 standing charge)
Electricity A Rate: £8.37
Electricity B Rate: £1.99 (hot water)
Electricity C Rate: £0.00 (storage heaters)
Standing charge: £1.60
The above brings my average weekly use down to £22.76
I could probably shave off that £1.99 by not having hot water but things haven't got that desperate. I'd get rid of the TV before losing my hot water.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Meter lady has just been so I have updated page 1
Quite shocked
Electricity is down 3 kw per day comapered to same qtr last year - 16%
But
GAS is down 50% compared to this qtr 2006 and 40% compared to this qtr last year.:jie reduced by 20kw per day. I was so surprised I went back and read it twice
It must have been much warmer this year or wearing those jumpers really has paid off. Dead pleased:D0 -
I'm on a B and C this week and at position 8. Used 19 kWh electricity or 10kg CO2.0

Well done, setmefree! You're doing a brilliant job of cutting down, especially on the gas. We should, hopefully, reduce ours further when DS is working away fulltime but then I'll also be losing the 'dig money', so the purse strings will need to be tightened then, regardless.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
