Hi everyone, haven't posted in a while but still imeasuring :) last week used 83kwh gas and 63kwh electric. We emitted 50kg of co2. I really have no idea how to take the gas use down any further, this is showers only and they're lukewarm. I'm really wondering whether keeping the pilot light on is costing us. I've barely even been using the gas to cook these days. Overall though I am quite pleased, we're about 8kwh a week down on last year for electric (our bill arrived lately) and by my judgement we're down about 40kwh or so per week :) although the weather is so much better that I can't take total credit.

    Onwards and downwards :)
  • Might try the local army and navy store to see if I can get one of these:

Just needs somewhere to hang it up.

    Meters read for the week.

Gas at 34kWh - exactly the same as last week
Electricity at 60kWh - 4kWh up on last week, presumably from 2 extra wash loads and lawn mowing

Good morning, another week has passed and my average is still dropping, albeit very slowly. Last week's low showed a C rating, but that was only because DS was away most of the week so there was less washing, fewer showers, less cooking and his TV & computer weren't running.

    This week:
Your household's total energy spend over the last 30 weeks is £604.14 (Plus £48.30 standing charges)

For week ending 5th July, 2009 your household spent £11.34 in total.
    Electricity A Rate: £9.53
    Electricity B Rate: £1.81
    Electricity C Rate: £0.00
    Standing charge: £1.61

That brings my weekly average over the year to date to £21.75
I have budgeted for an average of £23 per week, so there isn't much room for further price increases.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

22 kwh of gas, and 27 kwh of electricity. I'm a C compared to all households.

Electric kettle blew up at the start of the week, so I've been using a saucepan on the gas hob to boil water. My gas use has gone from 11 to 22 kwh as a result.

Electricity up from last week's 24 kwh to 27 despite not using an electric kettle, cos I'm using an old fridge freezer after the new one I had became faulty.

It's cheaper by far to continue running the old one rather than getting another A rated one, as the difference in running cost is about 70p a week = £36.40 a year, so 10 years worth of use might pay for a reasonable new one.

Thinking about it - I could probably do away with a freezer altogether, and shop twice instead of once a week. I'll wait till I've eaten the contents of this one, then try using the fridge only.

I switched our freezer off last year when we went on holiday. I never switched it on again! By christmas I realised we could live without it and got rid off it. We have saved a lot of money and I really don't miss it at all....switch it off and see how you get on:cool:

    Kind Regards

Thanks for the encouragement - once the food's eaten, off it goes :D

I guess that for some living in isolated circumstances, a freezer can be essential, but considering I'm only 10 mins away from shops, it's a bad habit rather than a necessity.

I'm about a 15 mins walk (each way) from L!dl, about 12 from A!di, and less than 10 from a Mr M that opens the doors next Monday (was a S/fld, but has been closed for the last 12-13 weeks for the change over) -- but I couldn't live without my freezer. I stock up on Whoopsies (especially meat), bulk buy things (again especially meat), bulk cook, then freeze in portions. So some (if not all) the cost of running the freezer is offset by the savings on the good, and the savings on fuel from not having to cook from scratch every time we want h/m soup, bolognese, chille, curry, stew, casserole etc. I also rely very heavily on frozen vegetables ;)

Just checked my badges for last weeks readings. Both 'all users' and 'all g&e detahced' show a site average of 17kg CO2, and mine was 19kg...... yet I have a 'D' again 'all users' and an 'E' for my other  I guess it must be down to decimal places :rolleyes2

Anyone know what's up with imeasure? Went to put my reads in and the page won't come up.

Anyway a very good week for me gas-wise, using just 4 units and 45kwh :) my lowest since records began. It helps that I'm showering in almost cold water I guess :)

Electric is up a bit at 74kwh but I boil washed the dishwasher this week and have had the tv on a good bit so I guess that explains that.

At least I can live in hope that I wouldn't be an E although realistically this is the likelihood :)
