Desperate, am I in the wrong place?

Hi Paige
It shows the largeness of your heart that you take time from your own troubles to offer people like me support and encouragement. I know self-employment can be so tough - you are at the mercy of your clients' goodwill too often when it comes to getting paid for your hard work. I hope those individuals pay up soon. What is your position legally if they still won't pay? As for feeling embarrassed, the first person I spoke to at the National Debtline admitted he had a big debt problem too! Just because you're good with other people's numbers doesn't seem to make you immune!
Thanks for what you say. It gives me strength for when I don't feel like an inspiration to myself.

Oooh! I just got a cheque in the post for £1800 for my car accident injuries. Now... do I pay it in to the bank, or wait for our squeaky clean bank account to be opened....?LBM 16/06/08 - Credit card debts June '08 [STRIKE]£49,145 [/STRIKE].... Feb '13 balance £38,478 ... We'll get there0

Hi Forgetmenot, been reading and lurking on your amazing thread and like others have been really inspired; thank you. But i thought I would pop in and say "£1800 Yayyyy!!!!!!" how exciting - I would use one of those jumpy up and down symbols to illustrate but I just think I'm too old for those! Won't advise on where to put the cheque as I'm not very wise but just wanted to share in your excitement, I'm really happy for you.0

Hi dollydumpling, thanks!
Well according to the National Debtline our bank has no links with any of our creditors so it's safe to pay it in. With my husband's extra salary (because of spread out bonus) we may be able with this cheque to pay our essential debts this month plus clear the overdraft and....(drum roll please)....STAY IN THE BLACK!!! Actually let's save the celebration until we've actually done it!
xx

Hello Forgetmenot
I haven't posted on your thread before, don't know why not really because I kept thinking I must log on and see whether you got the job or not!! Really sorry you didn't, as others have said it is their loss. Take it for the positive experience it was e.g. a very thorough interview process!! And it just means the most perfect job is around the corner.
I am in a similar position to you, we as a family are about four weeks into our debt free journey... today I spent £68 at tesco for the week for four of us. This is a little over the £60 I budgetted but the freezer is pretty much full and we have meals planned and ingredients for the next 8 days, so should be fine. I am amazed when I look back to a few months ago and my shopping would easily have been £110-£120!!! Like your children, mine haven't mentioned what happened to ballet, swimming etc. Although the oldest (13) is starting to notice that cd's etc. don't seem to come as freely.
It is incredible how we can all survive on less isn't it?
I wish you every success as your journey continues, I will be following it closely.
warm regards

Really happy you got your money. Maybe you should pay it into your new bank account and then pay your most pressing bills from there.
The immediate stress is now off for a little while, it will give you a little breathing space.

Thank you Paige, rubydoiwannabe, lucielle and mms! Paige, yes I've thought about that. No paperwork for new bank account yet, but it can wait. I'll ring them on Monday.
OK...... here goes.... This is how I feel about having got to the end of another week without the world crashing about our ears!
