Glad I've seen this thread. We have a built in oven that just broke. How it's built in, fixing it and getting a new oven will cost a lot. Also most people I know to help are not available till after Christmas. So this CookWorks Halogen oven was the only option really. Glad to see it does roast dinners rather well. Only 2 of us on Christmas.
Bit of advice how do some of you cook roast chickens and rost potatoes? Also do I need to buy extra tray for the oil? I have seen a few youtube clips cooking a roast which helps but also good to ask other opinions.
I have similar problem, only halogen oven to cook christams dinner, only two of us.
Don't know where to start.Book with oven says cook chicken 17minutes ?!!
have bought Aldi 4 bird roast and want to have roast potatoes and parsnips, help please, how do I cook them?
thank you0 -
To be honest, with something like the Three/Four Bird Roast, I'd look at the 'normal cooking instructions' and use those as a guideline putting the meat on the lower rack - you may need to use the extension ring IF the meat is too close to the heating element. Keep an eye on the meat as it's cooking and keep checking towards the end of the cooking time with a skewer (or meat thermometer) to make sure that's it's fully cooked.
I would start it off upside down and turn onto first one side/then the other and finally the right-way up to finish off.
Check with your 'user recipe book' for details on how to roast potatoes and/or parsnips. I have an Actifry, so mine go in that for 35mins with 10-15 for my parsnips. Or there's lots of 'online recipes for Halogen Ovens'.

If you're having to use just a Halogen Oven, I woulndn't be trying to schedule your Christmas Lunch for a 'set time' until you're used to it's timings - I think you may need to be a 'little bit flexible' about what time you'll be tucking in to your meal.0 -

Hi.
I see there is a long thread about the Remoska cooker, but I have just become the owner of the JML halogen oven. In an effort to cut down on electricity, I decided to get one of these and so far, the simple things I have done with it have turned out great.
I was wondering if anyone has one and they could pass on any recipes they use. The book it came with had only four recipes. For example, if you do baked potatoes in them, would you time them as in an ordinary oven?
I love this gadget. It seems to live up to the hype of the adverts, but there is not enough information on how to get the best use out of it.
Any other JML owners out there? Sorry mods if this is on wrong board, but did a search and it seems only a few people saying they had one and nothing on how they use it and what for.
Thanks.

I am absolutely fed up with IW halogen ovens my mother bought the hinged lidded version and was pleased with it so treated me to one but mine only lasted a couple of months then would not work so it was sent back under guarantee for repair we heard nothing so I telephoned them to be told they were sending a new replacement oven and would be charging us for the delivery although we felt we should not have to pay for delivery we paid and it is now just over 12 months old and it keeps going pop when switched on and trips my electricity.
I googled IW ovens and found this site and a couple of people said they had theirs replaced by IW after 12 months by quoting the 2 year EU Sale Of Goods Act to I telephoned them today explained the situation and was told they would arrange collection and repair it if possible but would be charging me for the repair because it only has a 12 month guarantee. I have tried to find the thread people said they had theirs replaced by IW because of the EU rule but cannot find it now can anyone help.
By the way after 12 months my mothers went wrong so she bought another one from IW in September 2012 which went wrong in November 2012 and IW did not offer to replace after a considerable time and my continual emails they just said they are refunding it minus what I paid for delivery which I do not think is right because she only had it for 2 months, we went on line and ordered a replacement and had to pay the delivery cost again, I cannot understand why they did not send a replacement because they had them in stock, basically they just wanted to fiddle us for another delivery fee.
Any advice apart from do not buy from IW.
My mother who is 83 buys a lot of expensive stuff from IW she bought a carpet shampoo machine for over £150 and was pleased so ordered a second for me which was very generous but she is still buying from them she recently purchased a long handle steam wand or some such thing and she has just had a letter from them saying a customer has complained because the steam tank blew up and burnt their leg so they are no longer selling them and are telling all customers to return them for a refund, I wonder if they will refund the postage !! we will wait and see.0 -
