Don't know if anyone has thought of this before, but I don't have a hinged lid or a lid holder. So I just use the expansion ring on the worksurface and put the lid on top of that when turning food. It holds it off the worksurface, and worksurface isn't damaged so far.

  • hi to all,
i come from Ghana and have this particular brand called 'NUO HALOGEN OVEN'. I have never used it but plan on doing so. seen so many comments about it being very useful and would like to know exactly how to use the frying pan and the steaming pan for recipes like frying egg, french fries, etc. i am African and so some recipes would be new to me but always ready to try out stuff. thanks n would really appreciate all efforts to help me.
  • Hi all, just bought the Delta Halogen Oven from Aldi (reduced to #24.99)

Going to let OH be the guinea pig and he wants to do pork chops and roast potatoes in it tonight. Can anyone tell me whether I should place parboiled potatoes shaken with a little bit of oil directly on the bottom or in a roasting tin. Then the pork chop on the rack above? Should I worry about the meat juices dripping on the potatoes??

HELP, don't want to poison him!

    Thanks in advance!

I drop the potatoes onto hot oil (just a little) coat the potatoes in the oil and place the chops on a pyrex lid on a rack.

The chops should only need 5/10 minutes
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!
  • Thanks, so thinking now pork chop at the bottom, directly in bowl or in dish??

Then rack with potatoes in a dish with oil

Fingers crossed. OH is convinced that the HO will be a waste of money so NEED to get it right!

Costco have a Halogen Oven on offer at the moment.

    £24.99 complete with extender ring.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • Mine came with two racks, extender ring and tongs and a 3 year guarantee which sounds like it might be quite handy considering their life span!

OH is very pleased with his chicken. Moist and with crispy skin in 20 mins.

He skipped the potatoes for rice, so didn't get a chance to test.

Looking forward to trying it out with some other stuff over the weekend.

And...another one bites the dust.:(...The Team Visicook one that i bought from Costo (to replace the one from Ideal world )Has just blew the bulb...!,thankfully it had the decency to finish cooking my daughters fish fingers before it went Kaput;), and even more thankfully there is just over 4 weeks left on the guarantee,so Costco will replace no problem..wont make it there until Sunday tho'..im gonna miss it terribly,we use our halogen almost every day now...even for toasted cheese at night lol.
    Track record so far,
Ideal World Halogen.(around the £50 mark),lasted 18months,but ideal world refunded me when they couldnt repair it,
    Costco.Team Visicook one(£30 or £35),lasted 11months,and Costco will refund/replace.
So altho neither have lasted very long, they were both used a lot and im not out of pocket, just inconvenienced...
    Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

At least with the Costco one, you can get your refund, and use it to go straight into the store and buy another one :D
