There is another discussion regarding the legal & general offer of m&s vouchers. There is a code that you use on the l&g site to get the vouchers. I asked the question could I get cashback and vouchers if I go via TCB.....

    No .
  • Only getting the weekly email for a few weeks, see about the home insurance and my renewal arrived... £122 from LV= (just contents).

Went on the Legal and General website and the (contents) quote was £49.46. Checked on confused and compare the market, L&G cheapest with above. Only £20 M&S vouchers for contents only but makes cover £29.46!! AND that is with a previous claim within the past 3 years. Result!!
  • I made a £62.16 profit from home insurance in 2012 by combining two offers.

A company promised to beat my renewal quote by £50. My renewal quote was £67.84 so I was able to get it for £17.84. I took it out through Quidco who later gave me £80 cashback.
  • Thanks to Martin's advice I went through Moneysupermarket & managed to get my house insurance like for like cover down from £381 to £189 - well pleased :rotfl:

    Thanks MSE!

I've used this site for years, but never posted on the forum, until now!
I've saved bundles year on year, and it seems to get better each time, especially with insurance.

My current 'happy face' is caused by:

Renewal quote for contents only (Shelia's Wheels) £228.49
Following Martin's tips, lead me to new quote (Aviva) £77.00
    Plus £20.20 TopCashBack = £56.80

Saving me a whopping £171.69! So thank you, thank you, thank you!
(It ain't over yet though, I'm waiting to haggle a bit on the phone, just in case!). Hoping for another super saving on my car insurance (currently a miserable £1086.99 as a new driver - boo hiss!) :)
  • House insurance B&C, never claimed
Was with Adrian Flux after lots of shopping around, last year was £750, this year was £760 - 40 flat roof, brook (which hasnt flooded) and our postcode flags something. I've allways had problems, none of the neigbours have.
Tried Policy Expert and they had 3 ranging from £311 - £280, well chuffed :j

These premiums that you're all mentioning, are they for the month or for the year?

(This makes me feel SO stupid but I have never had control over choices such as insurance, until this year - and had serious illness(es) so took my eye off the ball on finances as well as everything else for the last 7 years). Finally now doing it myself without the control freak :j and it's quite a learning curve, I feel like a child!)
  • Persuaded parents to let me sort out their home insurance. Got down from their renewal quote of £1428 down to £579 with £30 of vouchers and £45 cash back. This was with 3 times the contents cover (they were underinsured it turned out) as well!

    They were very happy!

Well, it has taken me 3 months but I've done it: from £923 to £223 - that is, cut by 76%. I worked the percentage out (celebrating by doing sums, lol)! Plus I've made a one-off payment, so apart from saving that extra on the interest, also I now have NO home insurance amount d/d. Instead of £78/month. Result!

(That includes insuring an insulin pump - NHS-provided but they tell you to put it on the contents insurance for about £3000 - without any loading, which also took a little clever fluttering of the eyelids over the phone.)

Almost a shame that I won't reduce it by SUCH a lot ever again.
    Almost.
  • Today I received my renewal from Tesco Home Insurance for £252.43. This was nearly £50 increase on last year's premium. The only difference was a claim for storm damage in October 2013's storm - total claim £142.
So I decided to trawl through some of the comparison sites. After following all the steps, I have moved to Allianz, where like for like cover is costing £125.59.
    Renewal quote = £252.43
    Allianz quote = £125.59
    Saving = £126.84!
