thanks for all your help re: the cards. This boomerang one seems ok. £10 for the card and no transaction fees for topping up or using online and in shops etc. It does charge for ATM use but I wasn't going to use it for that any way, so I guess it's a reasonable deal. Lots of student benefits too. I was thinking of the card for No1 son, but I'm going to be a student too in September!:p
Am I allowed to feel smug for not using the tumble dryer all week and getting all my bread baked today?:jLBM:FEB 2008

You are indeed! Did you just put your bread in the garden and let it cook in the heat?!
Thanks for all the encouragement all of you. Not going out though, as believe it or not washed ALL my towels to take to launderette, got there, closed due to fault. Went to the other one further away. Closed early.
Went for a run earlier and still in sweaty kit so short of going out like this as 'sweaty haired hen' (hen do is NOT fancy dress) or doing laps of the flat to dry off, is a night in....not ideal
BUT....thanks to you lot my mood is far, far lifted. Thanks!

I wish! Like an idiot I put the oven on at about 7.30am! Mind you it kept the small person occupied until the paddling pool was re-filled! Now I worry about how much extra water we've used! Small price to pay for all that fun though!LBM:FEB 2008

Thanks for all the supportive posts.
Had a letter from CCCS today to say they have written to all my DH's creditors and asked them to consider writing off his debts. After the funeral expenses are paid there will be very little left anyway. He had no insurance.
I have had the £2000 Bereavement Grant paid into my account and am waiting to hear if I get Bereavement Allowance. I had a letter sayng it was to explain about the letter I received about the allowance but that hasn't arrived yet so I still don't know.
I can't tell you how lonely it feels doing all this. I have great friends and relatives but they know less about this than I do.
I have been reading various websites about what to do following bereavement about debt but they make the great assumption that your brain is acting normally.
What I really want to do is hide in a corner and cry my eyes out.
Luckily I did deal with the financial side of things but everything seems pointless at the moment.0 -
Awww Janey51, wish there was some way or some support I could give to take away some of the pain. Whilst I know you need to keep busy, also make sure you do take time out for yourself, have a good cry, remember the good things you did together as no one can take away your memories.
If it helps to post some things on here other then the debt stuff then please do, thats what we are hear for and between us all we have massive shoulders to lean on.
Take care xx0 -
Afternoon everyone...
Janey51, I echo the last post. What a horrible situation you are in. Do post on here as much as you want to about the debt and about anything else too.
We may not have the expertise you need but someone can always point you in the right direction and as Ossireo said, combined we do have some pretty big shoulders to lean on... xx0 -
I shouldn't grumble with all the stuff people have going on but I will!
I had an infection in my foot last friday went on anti b's ended back at docs yesterday to be told its turned to cellulitious which is driving me barmy, itching, burning, swollen and can't walk. The tablets made me all confused last week and now I have another 10 days of them but fingers crossed it gets it this time
Janey do make sure you have all that you are entitled to my MIL didn't realise there was a new pension or something that you have to apply for in the first year or you do not get it until you reach retirement. I don't remember the name of it now but she did miss out. I should imagine a bereavement charity may have more information or your local CAB.0 -
Hope your foot gets better soon rayday - can't be very pleasant, especially in the heat! x*Official DMP Mutual Support Club Member No 147**Official DFW Nerd Club Member No 923*I have no idea what I'm talking about!0

Janey, big hugs to you once again. I hope you don't mind me saying this but can you access some help through a bereavement charity or Citizens Advice or something. You are going through hell and need some support. We are all here for you.
Rayday, sorry to hear about your foot. My brother has had cellulitis a few times and it ain't pretty. I hope it clears up soon for you.
Gemmzie, I was reading your own thread last night. I just wanted to say a big well done to you. :T I know you have mentioned on here that you are running your dad's DMP but I was totally amazed when I read all about it.
Nothing strange to report here.0
