    Hi Rugbymum

I realised I'd forgot to include Argos Additions to my debt list with CCCS and I got a letter yesterday from Debt Agency about it, that's the only communication I've had from them since I stopped paying 3 months ago (which is why I didn't know sooner). Rang CCCS and told them, they weren't best pleased with me and told me that this would be the only time I could add it onto my list of creditors. They did it anyway for me and had to find another £5 in my budget to add to my payment because my other creditors had already been told of their amount on my dmp and I couldn't retract it now.

Hope that makes sense and helps a bit

  • Hi VS&S

I know exactly how you are feeling (I think  ). Go with the DMP through whoever can help you and you feel comfortable with. That extra support of someone to 'hold your hand' when faced with the big bad debt bullies is more comforting!

I had to cancel a holiday which I paid for earlier this year, I lost almost £300 for a family of 8 of us in a caravan in the UK. But due to various reasons none of us could go in the end!

Reguarding the hen night tonight GO! I am sure your friends would appreciate your company and they will cheer you up, who knows they will probably rally round and buy you drinks all evening, if not just stick to tap water at least your out having fun!

I felt exactly the same last night and really did not feel like going to a wedding part but I made myself, if I didnt like it I told myself I could lump it! Maybe in your case you could come home early? In my case we were nowhere near home and I cant drive!

Fun and laughter is what you need to cheer yourself up, everything is closed and you cant deal with your triubles until Monday, thats frustrating yes I know but at least they are closed and not hassling you nothings happening behind the scenes we all start again on Monday.

I was determind NOT to sulk this weekend and enjoy the 2 day break from lifes woes. So maybe you could put on a smile, make that call to your mates and say youve changed your mind again?

Dance :j , boogie :T , laugh and smile its only once your frind gets married dont miss out on the opportunity to celebrate her last few days of being single she has responsibilities as a couple ;):p

Enjoy and sod the others! ;) :rotfl:

:cool: - Evening ladies? If your names not down your not coming in!
  • Thank you GH! Have PM'd you re your other thread too...xxx

And that last bit there really made me laugh!

Hi VS&S I'm going to echo GH on this one. Go with whoever is doing the best job for you. I gather (from reading other posts) that you can go it along once you're up and running. That way you're in control if thats what you need. Go to the party. Have fun. I'll be wishing I were with you. DS No1 just left for a week in Sicily with gf. DS No2 @ his dad's for the next week. Am left with hormonal DD and potty training two year old!
Oh and I can't drink cos' of my meds!

Thanks Simbalou yes it does make sense.
I hope CCCs don't give me a hard time though. I'm stressed enough about not working until I re-train and having no proper income so I'm having to re-budget with them as it is. Just storing up worries & stress until I have a clearer idea of what is going on with child tax credit (those lovely people!)

PS does anyone use a pre-paid debit card? We have a leaflet from UCAS about a Boomerang debit card and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of using them, before I think of getting one for DS for Uni.

    Hi Rugbymum

Yes I do. I have a Tuxedo one. It is a good idea, simple to use once youve figured out the set up and faffed about getting it right! When I set it up there was a minimum of £10 and they charged £5 for the admin of the card so you actually have £5 on card if top up by £10 initially but if I put £60 on card for first time top up I got a free £10 so I did lol. Had some issues with using card at first but they were easy to call and helped me out and even rang back to check it was all sorted a week later. Anything I dont understand I just call them now.

You have to wait a few days though for the money to be credited to your card so not as 'instant' as putting cach into bank account and using debit card. Other than that you know you cant go wrong and they wont allow you to go over whats in there like some credit cards do. Its a if you dont have it you cant buy it kinda way of thinking! Also useful for online shopping and they also have an online account. I did hear I could set it up to receive a text message to tell me I only had a certain amount left (set by me between £10 - £50) and a message to tell me when the money I put on has cleared, but not sure if this is true. I always keep a coded tally with the card so I keep a record anyway. One word of warning do check the charges I think some charge for cash withdrawals at ATM's and deposits. But not transactions at a store or online.

    Hope this helps.

    VS+S go out - that's an order.

Rugbymum, send an email to CCCS about your other creditor. I haven't got a prepaid debit card but I'm looking into it. If anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them. A lot of people on here seem to have the Cashplus.

No mail here today. I was rather hoping for another one of those nice letters saying I was getting charges back. :rotfl:

    Hi Rugbymum,

I have a Cashplus card. Accepted everywhere you can use Mastercard and I've never had any problems with it.

They have 2 ways of charging, you can either pay £4.95 a month for unlimited transactions or £1 per transaction and no monthly fee.

Card has "Online Banking" so you can check you balance at any time or change your details.

Toping up can be done at a post office, pay point or at a number of shops (see their website, places like cash converters and cheque cashing places mostly). If you top up at a post office or paypoint it takes 3 days for the money to appear, if you do it in a shop it's available in 30 minutes.

Very happy with it, though i hardly use it now I've got a debit card. Just use it for ebay now mainly.
