So he asked for a works number and I said I dont work now and reminded him I was receiving Incapacity Benefit and stopped work back in August 07 as we had discussed a few moments ago!

I think this sums dealing with some creditors perfectly, Unless you are agreeing a repayment with them all other words just dont go in

Hi just wanted to let you know because i had been complaining about the halifax interest charges put back on whilst on DMP

i was being charged interest and charges on cc with halifax 300pm (our monthly DMP to all creditors is 221!) i sent them a letter of complaint and this month they have not put any charges or interest on :T

I shall write to them to request they remove the last 5 months worth of charges and interest its worth a try :D

GHOSTHUNTER contact your phone company, landline & mobile. Tell them you need to get your number changed because you are being harrassed, under these circumstances they usually change the number for free. Thats the first thing you should do. It will at least stop the slimy so and so's phoning you all the time and give you some breathing space. You are under no obligation to give your number out to anyone.
I've always found it easier to deal with letters than phone calls because I have more time to get my thoughts in order before I reply, over the phone I tend to either cry or lose my temper!
I'm not sure about this next bit because I'm not terribly experienced but hopefully someone out there can advise better, what about writing to all your creditors and tell them that you are sending token payments until you have a DMP set up. Send them faithfully every week/month until ND get you sorted. I guess having the attitude "take it or leave it" could prevail until it gets sorted properly.

Argh! Only just got around to opening this morning's post (been doing laundry & baking bread on the hottest day of the millenium:cool: ), and the good news is that another debt that I had forgotten about has popped up:eek: I'm gonna have to add them to the list with CCCS. Has anyone ever had to do this? How do existing creditors react?

  • Good ideas thanks. Do you think they will accept Postal Orders as dont have cheque book and switching from a Building Society to a Bank account anyway, dont really want to hint to anyone im in debt with who my new bank is with.

I dont suppose they would do £1 DD or Standing Order's  :rotfl:

    Thanks

 You call that good news? :rotfl:

    Sorry to hear this :)
  • After a week where I felt increasingly clear and confident about everything I am now once again in a huge uneasy panic.

Maybe it's because it's the weekend and it feels like getting stuff sorted out is on hold when everything is closed, I don't know.

I am definitely going the DMP route but am struggling to decide whether to go with CCCS (said payplan by accident in earlier post for some reason but is CCCS have been arranging with) or go it alone. Was CCCS at first, then was confident about going it alone now am in a huge flap again about what's best.

Also doesn't help that the first payment I will not be paying is due next friday so I feel time is really pressing me.

Sorry to keep dithering and needing reassurance all the time. I just need more insight into what's best for me I think.

I worry that going it alone means that the companies will be less likely to adhere to agreements about low interest (and even agree in the first place) and that I won't know what to do if they start hassling me.

I am really worrying about money today to the point of being paralysed by it. Just metioned on another thread that went grocery shopping which I usually love (do a lot of cooking and tupperware-ing!) and was panicked that everything was too expensive even though am not a squanderer.

Came out with hardly anything and certainly nothing to make any form of meal with (soapy mushrooms in milk?). Usually £30-£35 buys most of what I need for a week's lunches and dinners but just felt sick in there today.

Also cancelled a holiday which I can't afford (lost £19 as opposed to spending £350 more) and a night out this evening for a friend's hen do. Am I just over panicking or is this what I should have been doing months ago and now I am having to catch up.

Sorry for banging on....the DMP question is the most pressing for me....
  • Just to clarify, I did not spend £30-35 on soap, mushrooms and milk! I am very sensible with my food shopping....
