Hi Ruthie70,
I think the advice I have read on here is not to start reclaiming until your DMP is up and running. Give your creditors time to be reasonable and cut interest rates first!

Hey, I love charity shops my perfect day out is going to a town where theres loads, OH loves them more than me! Sad or what!
Me too! there's 5 that are near work and I can get to in a 10 minute walk and another 5 that are in a 10 minute drive - often makes me late back though from the rummaging!
I have a lovely wallis skirt £4, monsoon evening dress £5 and lots of others. That and ebay are now my shopping sprees - gone are the days of spending £100's on new outfits and shoes in one day - though I do kind of miss having loads of nice posh carrier bags with shoe boxes etc in all from one day's shopping
I love it when someone compliments me on my clothes and I sometimes confess it was £5 from ebay/charity etcBut I can get so many more clothes that way for my £20 a month DMP budget - not to mention some nice handbags
Besides buying used clothes is recycling and good for the environmentworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Really feel for you and your dilemma, but I honestly think you are going to have to bite the bullet and tell him. Far better that he finds out from you than finding out via Experian or a letter etc. On a more technical note, I wonder if you having the 'arrangement' on our credit file could affect him too in some small way within the next 6 years.
After a row or some stress, if that, he'll see that you're really doing something positive about your debts.
I would suggest that you ask him to take a look at this thread and he'll see what a common problem this is, but also how it affects us in similar ways too.
Good luck, go talk...Lou0 -
Appied for a Halifax account online yesterday, so hope to hear something soon. Gonna do a load of token letters and get them sent off, then send my budget extra back to National Debtline.
Would you believe I've just had my very first viewing of our house today :T Its been on the market for over 4 months, so about time. I hope they like it and make an offer. One slight prob tho' - I am going to use some of the money to pay off the debts, which will make my DMP stuff all wrong at some point.

I had some letters back today from folks telling me that I had cancelled my DD to them. I almost had guilt, only almost. I wait in eager anticipation of what awaits me in my letter box today!

Hi I know I haven' bee here in ages, but I got cut off- the shame of it, but at least it's a sign that things are a bit better that I could afford to actualy pay bills this month.
I came to the realisation last June that I was going to end out in (even more) serious trouble if I didn't do something o sort out my financial mess. I sat down, panicked and cried a lot, wrote it down, called for help and eventually was put in touch with PayPlan.
After days when I had up to 100 calls a day, I have now made 3 DMP payments, feel very poor as they are massive, but felt I was getting somewhere. Tonight I feel devastated and defeated because of something that I discovered an hour ago.
One of the debts I had was with a really "reputable" short term loans company called same day cash. I took out a Payday loan for 800- to pay back 1083 and defaulted. I just couldn't afford it. By the time Paypla got in touch with them is was over 1325 but even though I checked every few weeks the balance didn't change. Today I logged into the account and was panicked to see it was up to 1789 pounds. I contacted Payplan who for the first time said that hat they hadn't bank details and a DMP hadn't been arranged with SDC.
So I decided to call SDC and this lady who was really horrible to me, told me it was company policy to not accept DMP's, and that I had to pay in full. Apparently my 12 month DMP was too long a time to wait for their money. I said I obviously couldn't do that, or I would have done that already. I was like look 400 pounds could already have been aid if you'd provided you bank details, and by the time you take me to court this could all have been paid off. She was having none of it, and said she'd fast tack the court action.
I just feel like I'm in loads more trouble now. I can't afford to be made bankrupt, I'm a teacher... and schools really care about this sort of thing. It's even on some LEA application forms.
Surely a court would see that I pay off as much as I can every month and that I\ve doing my best. Payplan said that they have legal advice should SDC push for this.
I just can't stop crying about it all... I felt like I was getting somewhere and even though I have nothing at the moment there was light at the end of the tunnel.
Has this happened to anyone here? Any advice about what to do?

I have no experience with defaulting on these loans, but find it highly unlickly that they'd be able to bankrupt you for that amount of money.
I'm sure someone else will be of more use but just don't worry about it too much yet. Hi All,
I'd really like to join here as am just about to start a DMP myself. Had a really low day today as paperwork arrived and it just sort of hit me and am worried about all the hassle from creditors to come in the next months etc. I have posted some questions earlier I wondered if anyone could help me with these if you have a chance. Anyways I am grateful for any help and advice and just reading through posts and seeing all the brilliant advice reminds me that I'm not alone and hopefully in a few months I can be of use to anyone new to DMP's too.

Hi DD, missed your earlier questions, sorry but welcome on here, it's been a lifesaver for me for one. Hassle from creditors has all but stopped for me, by phone anyway, I asked everyone to just contact me via letter and it seeems to have worked.
Good luck with it all.:beer:DMP Support Thread Member 238DMP started October 20080 -
Hi All,
Just a quick question how did you pay for your token payments? I have just opened a new account and i was told it will come with a cheque book but I won't receive this for 3-5 working days so the beginning of next week sometime it should be. I am putting together my letters now though so is there another way I can make the token payments? I have cheque books for my other accounts but they are included in my DMP and I will then be sending them a cheque from their account so to speak? Is that ok?
