Hi, as you haven't heard of them, I would suggest you ask them to contact you in writing so that you can respond when you have all information you need with you.
Just a thought. I resent these heavies for being so unnerving...Lou0 -
Andy. HSBC are puppies compared to the Heavies from Hell that are the DCA for AMEX...
Would that be AIC (Allied International Credit) that you are talking about by any chance?!
Don't let them b******s worry you - they came on all strong saying they were going to make me bankrupt, take my car, tell my family etc etc.
In the end I just told them to get lost and AMEX just passed my debt onto RMA Resolve, who let me pay 30 quid a month and NEVER ring me or give me a hard time.
Remember......... They can't have what you haven't got.0 -

I don't mean to alarm, just something that homeowners with unsecured debt need to be aware of. And sign that petition!DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Ta-dah! :j It's ok I haven't been drinking (well ok 2 cups of tetley tea)
just wanted to say 'morning' to you all. Had a decent half term so far....
I went to bank the yesterday and had a little bit more in that what I thought :T still finding it hard to adjust to not having an overdraft though to fall back on so I always worry about leaving money in to cover direct debits and I really miss the cheque book and debit card I really doIt's hard to adjust when you are in DMP mode isn't it? OH and kids imitate me now when I come home from food shopping because I go on about what offers I picked up and how I got 3 for 2 on this or that or I got this for xx amount of pence. YES I am now that sad!
I really wanted to go into Woolworths yesterday because they have 3 for 2 offer on toys, I so would have been in there pre DMPbut yesterday something stopped me, my kids have had nearly every toy going, every board game and they don't need anymore, this will be the first christmas we will have that the presents will mean something because real thought has gone into it, no more buying willy nilly just because I can (shame)
So account will be in credit rolling on to next month too :j
I went into a charity shop! My 12 (going on 21!) year old daughter would be so ashamed of me, she will NOT be seen dead in there in case any of her friends see her. I walked past and thought i'll just have a nose see what stuff they got and glad I did because I got a bargain, a jumper from Next for £3 :T I know it's shameful isn't it?but it was in excellent condition I'm sure it's new. When I think I could have up to £3000 worth of stuff from their catalogue when I had my account with them now I'm rummaging in charity shops for their stuff.
Oh the shame of a DMP!! :rotfl:
I made chocolate rice crispie and cornflake cakes with my two the other day and you should have seen their faces!! They were so chuffed that we were making these things, just proves you don't need to spend loads to have a good time. Very little mess, I didn't burn the chocolate and the cakes tasted nice too!
I have had a few arguements with OH about the DMP, debts, letters etc as I find it hard to switch off. I can't help it, I'm worried about the hassle from creditors but he said 'it's every night' (haha I wish it was:rotfl: ) ...ahem, I have tried to stop thinking about the debt but it's hard isn't it? I think it seems more difficult when your partner doesn't seem phased at all by any of it. I will try not to bring it into every conversation, think it's cause it's early days.
Anyone else been watching Dead Set on E4? Suppose its better than listening about the recession on the news
anyway I'm rambling on now so I'll stop

Toffee - yes, i had that sort of epiphany about Xmas presents for the kids myself last week. I have sat them all down and explained that this Xmas will be different and that it will be about have a really good family day. Which is what is should be about anyway - on moments when I don't feel really depressed about the situation, I get the feeling that maybe we all need a reality check like this now and again. We all have our health and, for now (!) a warm home. There we go, I'm depressed again!!!Lou0

thanks Lou,
i rang up the cmpany yesterday and the forms came today so am just filling them in! Cut up all my credit cards yesterday and binned them half in my friends new house bin and half in her old bin 12 miles away LOL. Just worried now as to what will happen. Does a DMP affect credit ratings? I was told no but i highly doubt it wont. Do you really get threatening phone calls and letters, mostly worried about the phone calls as hubby doesnt know about all this! he found out about a loan i had 3 years ago and went up the wall so am dreading telling him as he said then he'd leave if i ever did that again (am hoping it was in teh heat of teh moment!)0 -

I know Lou, as much as I have come to enjoy this site it does make depressing reading sometimes, my posts included!Hope that isn't offensive to anyone?
Too be honest Lou I guarantee I will have a better christmas this year, ok the floor under the tree might not be so heavily stacked but how many times have we each said to OH or family 'I'm not buying crap this year' and then do exactly the opposite because you believe your kids will have a better xmas day becuase they have millions of presents to wake up to? Most of it ends up under the bed and come the summer you are huffing and puffing taking it all to the charity shop when you have a clear out!!
I did buy the Golden Balls game from Argos the other week for £18 (£19.99 in Woolworths) yep I am tracking my pennies and hunting the bargains. I know what we are going to be doing on Christmas dayand I am stealing the lot
