So, went into Co-Operative Bank on saturday and set up a Cashminder account, problem is, I get paid on Wednesday and need to pay money in somewhere
Grrr!
Know that feeling. My Cashminder account stuff arrived on Saturday (they actually gave me account no and sort code to start paying in over the phone - so ask). My savings account with NatWest arrived today but not step account, I rang up and was advised to go into the branch to save time. I assumed the worst but she actually set me up with a Current Plus account which has a cheque book and Maestro cheque guarantee account there and then! I did open a Step account too, just in case... Apparently it takes up to 10 days to get book and card etc but she gave me the account info there and then.
Ring Coop for account info, I paid in before I had my debit card...Lou0 -
I asked Capital One to cancel my ppi when I started out on the DMP and they wrote back saying for security reasons they needed my signature. Yeah right! Statements have been sent to my house and I have dealt with their correspondence so if they had any security issues about me they never raised them before! Idiots
I had this as well. I then wrote to them asking for the PPI to be stopped and then they wrote back saying my signature didn't match their records!!!April GC 9th-7th may £0/£3200 -

ThanksI'm hoping if I ring them mid-week they should be able to let me have the info to pay in at least. Nat West really annoyed me, because I only applied for them because I could apply online, but i'd have been better off just going straight to Co-Op! Can't wait for my new account to be open

Yes, I'm quite happy with Coop - I can pay in the local post office which will help as i live in the middle of nowhere... I wonder if the Coop realise what a roaring trade we're doing for their business on here?!Lou0 -
can anyone else confirm that interest was stopped on dpm. Some have stopped interest but others have not and the interest is more than the payment.Very worrying as debt 46,000 keeps going up live alone and really need some moral support.Dmp set up and first payment was september.0

Hi All,
I am a former forum lurker and financial head burier. I thought I'd share my load/woes/tale with folks in a similar situation as me(hope thats ok).
OH and I have just sent off our completed DMP docs, we went through CCCS, and also opened new bank accounts. While I feel better about having woken up to the problem and actually doing something about it, I still worry every minute (or so it feels) that something else is going to drop in my lap. So much so that I cant even say what these things might be for fear of making them happen! Crazy I know!:o
We have an amazing 14 month old boy who is our world, funnily enough our money went seriously adrift with his arrival! We are certainly not frivolous, we both work full time, Mini me attends nursery and loves it. Trouble is he seems to suffer with Chronic Nursery Syndrome, I.E he is frequently poorly so either OH or I (mostly OH) have time off to nurse him. This has cost OH 1 job and muchas muchas grief at my office. I am grateful still that he is not seriously ill like so many other babies in the world, just thought I'd rant.
We managed for the last year by simply using more and more credit (mostly me) and not even considering the consequences. Then, a couple of weeks ago, it all ground to a shuddering great halt and the well was dry. Needless to say sleepless nights ensued, many, many hours of crunching numbers and feeling that it just isn't worth the bother, then finally, the MSE website, where I found so many people, much like me, with similar problems and here a place to vent frustrations, worries and pretty much anything, fiscal or otherwise!:A Corny I know, but so true.
anyway, you can see the extent of our debt from my signature and probably an insight to my state of mind from my post!
I'm no financial whizz but I am a good "ear" and thank you guys for being the same.
HT

Good! Hope I can get my bank details sooner rather than later!
In a strange turn of events, I got a sort code and account number from Nat West yesterday, after claiming they'd received nothing back from me in terms of a signature!!
So angry with them, not using them anyway a)Because they seem to have no idea what they're doing and b) Recently found out HMV Card is with Style, who are part of RBS!Twitter: @haddockman830 -
Hi, I have a quick question, I already bank with the Co-op through Smile and dont have any overdraft debt with them at the mo, although this fluctuates, should I still open a new bank account. I still have an old account with natwest but havent used it in over 3 years so can I just go back to using that one?
Honkey Tonk - I sympathise with your situation, its amazing how a child can shake things up. Me and my OH were never huge spenders, but buying a house and having a child rocketed our debts. I hope that this will be a lesson to my kids in the future to save rather than spend. I bet your like me too in that you dont have lots of extras you can cut back on, having a child certainly removes any entertainment budget!!Debt at LBM - £11,505Debt 2011 = [STRIKE]8K[/STRIKE] £7760 - DF in July 2013DMP Paddle no. 1 Sealed Pot No. 1375Grocery Challenge Aug £418.31/£450 Sept £ /£4500 -

Hi Ht, and welcome to the thread! You made me smile, I have a beautiful 21 month old who also suffers from Chronic Nursery Syndrome, I SO know where you're coming from! And even using eBay extensively rather than buying things new, it's still very expensive bringing up a wee one.
Grab some hot chocolate, pull up a chair and settle in for some DMP chat, we're all in much the same boat here

Hi Nataz,
You're not wrong about kids shaking things up! And we thought we were prepared!:rotfl:
I'm not too clued up on the fiscal stuff yet, but I suspect you'll get a whole bunch of good advice pretty soon from those that are.
take it easy
