- Have made 2 payments of £427 to CCCS, nothing has been paid to creditors yet, money with CCCS doing nothing (started DMP Oct 2008) 1st Payment should have gone to creditors by now - is there something wrong.....
- I am finding it really difficult to cope on a budget, have not paid nursery for 3 weeks (£306) so am in arrears with them now, what can I do, have about £40 left this week and will only have about £166 a week until next pay day (15th November) need to pay £102 each week to nursery & still buy food and petrol aaahhhhhh! NOT VERY GOOD WITH BUDGETTING - ANY ADVICE PLEASE
Also, You cannot get more credit whilst on a DMP, it's breaking the terms with CCCS. Also, if you got credit, your likely to not be able to pay it back. That's why you're in this mess.

Hi all thanks for your help, since last post have had a great big row, which has cleared the air a bit, have sat down and worked a few things out.
We only have to pay childcare until June next year , so have worked out all the payments due and taken off the direct payments from my wages & divided this by 9 mths giving a monthly payment of £211 to pay nursery - will go and have a chat with them on Monday to see if they will accept this as a monthly payment set up standing order each month so the money goes out of our salary on a monthly basis so that all the meony we get weekly from tax credits (£166) to pay for food petrol & bus fares, hopefully they will go for this.
Only need to June then we will have no more childcare for the little one, but then the tax credits will go so will need to re-assess again.
Hopefully willl be able to get a payrise or promotion at work too, things are thankfully going well at work for now....

Hiya,
Sorry to hear things are difficult at present but they will get better. You have made a start with the DMP. Others have already suggested doing a review with CCCS if you can't manage on your budget so I won't go through it again.
Can you do childcare vouchers through your work? I know my work has the system in place as one of my friends pays her child care directly out of her wages and gets tax relief on it at the same time so that's an additional saving. I can't remember what the plan is called but it's like salary sacrifice. The whole point of it is to get the tax relief on what is paid to the child care provider. Just a suggestion anyway. The best part is the fact that it can go directly from your wages but I think some companies pay vouchers out instead.
Hate to say this but the big row may have been the best way to go. My husband didn't understand the problem until I sat him down and told him very bluntly what the position was. He got really irate as he hates talking about money but he did finally accept the position and now supports the DMP idea. Since then I've got all the bills going out of a bank account in my name only so he cannot access the money there in any way. Therefore there is always enough to cover what is needed. Of course I'm the provider of the family as he earns about £30 a week from his own business so I let him do what he wants with that and I manage everything else. Doesn't work for everyone. (Probably only really works for us).
Don't know what advice to give for the car as I've never owned one (have license but live in town centre so use buses). I hope it works out.

We have just gone through the house collecting stuff to sell on Amazon - If we sell everything we have put on we would get about £328 (less cost of postage) thats for about 31 items, DVD's PC Games, Playstation Games, Camera Equipment.... so fingers crossed much needed cash, got lots more stuff we can put on, its all down to if it sells or not.
Hopefully will sell some stuff to ease our way a little.Current Debt £16,364 about to settle following pension payout0 -
Hi everyone. Is it possible for me to officially join this thread please?
DH and I are starting a DMP with CCCS and I have just sat and filled in all the Notifications. Our first payment is due to CCCS on 1 December.
I have a quick question if anyone can help. We are getting phone calls continually and I am not answering them because I am soooo stressed and afraid (anti-depressants and tranqs are taking a bit of a bashing at the moment!). When I send the Notification, token payment etc can I also include a letter asking them to contact me by post rather than phone? I know my nerves would be very grateful.
Thank you to anyone that can help. I'm sure I will be around daily and hopefully be able to offer others support eventually.

Hi,
Have you tried Ebay to sell your unwanted things? I would guess that loads moe people use it rather the Amazon, so you might get more for it. The buyer also pays the postage for what they have bought so you wouldn't have deduct that from what you make. You do have to pay Ebay fees mind, but these aren't that much if you are only selling relatively small things.
We've been doing this for about 18 months now and have cleared out loads of stuff that we never used. We've make well over a grand!!! We only use the money we make if we are really struggling in any particular month. It has helped us loads.
Hope this helps and keep you chin up

Hi,
Yes do tell them not to contact you by phone, only by post. Some will still call, when they ask for your details as they must to discuss financial info just say you have written requesting they do not call and refuse to confirm who you are. Actually all but one of our creditors have been very amicable and even helpful on the phone. Know your rights and NEVER agree to make even small payments if you are setting up a DMP. We made only token payments of £1 for each payment we missed until our DMP was set up.
Best wishes

Thank you both very much for such a quick response. I will get a letter ready to send with all the Notifications.
In so many ways I am pleased we are sorting things out. At the moment though I feel like everything is on top of me and I can't cope. I know things will get better.
Thanks very much again.

I agree, i get paid on tues and for the first in God knows how many years I have money left in my account , not much but at least it's something.
It feels amazing, after all the years of wage not even covering the overdraft.
To everyone feeling down and overwhelmed, hang in there this is the hard bit , things can only get easier from here on in, keep gaining support from this thread.:DDMP Support Thread Member 238DMP started October 20080
