  • Just as I was looking forward to a fresh start, HSBC have bounced by rent standing order :( So now, I've got to try and pay my rent late using some of the money I was going to start budgeting with next month :(

I went to the cash machine this morning and managed to rape if of every last penny I could get my hands on to pay the rent, but I'm still £130 short....get paid by cheque next week, so I'm thinking of asking the boss if he can pay my landlord by cheque and I can pay it into his account......saves a bit of time!

    Sigh!

    Thanks Sam
I have had problems with Roxburghe, especially with the Carphone Warehouse bill £240+, loads of phone calls and threatening letters, sent them letter with forms from CCCS and then a week later get a action letter from their solicitor. The letters i have had regarding the DMP say that paymant needs to reach them by 5th Nov otherwise i have broken agreement etc etc. I will send copies of the letters to CCCS.
Forgive me for being a bit panicky but i suffer from anxiety and depression and i am a DMP virgin :o

Hi Shell, everyone on this thread understands the sick panicky feeling that the phonecalls and post bring, it's part of starting a DMP :o . It will get better though once it's established for a couple of months and you can get on with your life.

This thread has been a lifesaver for me with information and reassurance so keep reading and posting. You can bet that if you have a question someone has the answer and someone else is worrying about the same thing. Good luck with it all.

    Sam,

  • Just another quickie:

I have a loan, overdraft and credit card with HSBC, does anyone know where I Should send the notification of DMP letter to? Also, all three forms in one envelope, or send them separately?

    Hi Andy

I have the same 3 with HSBC, I sent loan and credit card to address where postal payments go and having cleared out my HSBC account this morning I am trying to work out whether to send it to my branch or Head Office. I know the girls at the branch and don't want them to see my correspondence so will probably send to HO.

Be prepared to wait for HSBC to take ages to get the letters. I sent them ages ago and Gold Card have just rung to read me their schpiel...

Cheers, HSBC are 80% of my debts, so hope they aren't going to be too evil

    Hi All

I recently contacted CCCS because my hours were cut at work and I have just over £8000 in debt that I cannot repay. They have recommended a DMP but I no nothing about what happens with this. They said I will have to pay them £51 a month. I previously contacted Churchwood who wanted £150 a month !! I cancelled that when I read the bad reports on this site.

    I owe the following -

    Shopacheck £750
    Provident £700
    HSBC £1200
    Nat West £500
    Everyday Loans £4000
    Capital One £460
    Vanquis £260
    Money Shop £700

When I rang to cancel churchwood I told them I was using CCCS instead and they said don't cos they don't freeze interest or stop charges being added. Now I am worried that my debts are just gonna mount beyond belief.

    Please advise

Jo, Churchwood are only saying that because they don't want to lose the money they will make out of you!! The fact is, it is the CREDITORS who decide whether they are going to freeze or reduce interest, or stop charges. If they will do it for Churchwood, they will do it for CCCS and CCCS won't take any of your monthly payment and keep it for their fee!!! There is absolutely no guarantee that Churchwood would be able to stop the interest or charges either. But they will happily take their cut from your payment every month. Far less will go to your creditors than if you use CCCS or PayPlan.

From what I've read, at the beginning of a DMP debts DO go up a bit, because it takes time for creditors to come to arrangements and you will be paying less than the minimum payment. But it looks like, in a lot of cases, they DO eventually agree to stop or reduce the interest and the debt starts to go down. Or the creditor sells the debt on, and the collection agency then make the payment arrangement.

    Best of luck

They would say that if they're losing your custom!

If you setup a DMP (with any company, but pref one of the charities), then most of the time the creditors will stop interest & charges and/or default you. It may just take a few months for them to do so. So don't panic!

Yeah, got my first statement through from CCCS, there are a few mistakes on it like wrong account number and wrong balances but have now put these right online. Finally feel like something being done.

BUT, still getting threatening letters which are now begining to make me laugh, yes laugh, sounds ridiculous I know, but they keep putting little lines on letters in CAPITALS and in BOLD writing

e.g.: IF YOU DO NOT MAKE FULL PAYMENT OR COMMIT TO AN ACCEPTABLE PAYMENT PLAN WE WILL TAKE MATTERS FURTHER.

COURT PROCEEDINGS MAY INVOLVE YOU PAYING COSTS AND WILL MAKE IT DIFFICULT FO YOU TO GET CREDIT IF JUDGMENT IS OBTAINED AGAINST YOU.

Are they living in the real world, Do they not realise I do not want further credit I want to get out of Debt, MAY involve further costs, yes this is most helpful, obviously they want me to clear by debts later rather than sooner.

I know I got myself into this mess, but the debt I have is probably made of about 30% Actual debt and 70% interest, fees and other wonderful charges created to increase the profits of these wonderful institutions known as banks, when in actual fact they are better described as "Legal Thieves"

Well there you go that is my rant for the day, must go now as I have 2 little 5 year old friends coming for tea to play with my own little 5 year old so only about 1.5 hours of quiet left before they arrive for a few hours of total noise & chaos.

Toad in the Hole with Potato cakes and mixed vegatables, cannot wait love cooking , jelly & icecream for afters.. .Yum

    Bye for now,

    Hope everyone is well
