  • I'm baaack...

I've just been doing lots of sums to try to make myself feel better!

    a) Our current arrangement is DMP @ £144 pcm = 23.5 years to pay
    b) If cancel pension contribution and add this then DMP @ £250 = 13.5 years to pay
    c) Next Sept, add 50% of current childcare costs, then DMP @ £450 = 7.5 years to pay
    d) Next Sept, !!! 100% of current childcare costs, then DMP @ £650 = 5.2 years to pay

    :j:D:j:D:j:D:j

Now I know this isn't very scientific, as the payments would not start until next year and I'll have made smaller payments in the meantime and of course this is all based on creditors not adding interest and fees, BUT god that looks good!!!

I also plan on trying to reclaim charges etc, so may be able to throw in a few F&F's over the years too.

Now I can sleep tonight

I did quick mental thing last night - At £100 per month, with no interest and charges, I will pay off debt in 50 years. Bad times. If housing market improves and we can sell house I will pay off debt in 5 years. Good times.

Miss KJ - how did you get on with Coop? I also rang NatWest yesterday as I hadn't heard following my online application and I was given a Step account and Solo card over the phone. Papers should be here today, she told me to take into local branch as it's quicker so will do that. I just have to make sure that NatWest (and RBS) aren't connected with any of my debts. Coop gave me sorting code and account number over the phone when I rang them back so at least I can get a cheque paid in somewhere...

Filling in self admin dmp letters as we speak (now that bank is sorted). Here goes...

You can request all interest on unsecured loans and credit cards be stopped. They have't got to though. They are within their rights to continue charging.

You can claim back charges back 6 years. You can't claim interest back though.

Right so I can request for the interest to be frozen on the loans.......What about the 2 loans that have whacked the interest for the full term on the balance, do you think i can claim that back????....Please HELP!!!

  • I thought I would send a quick update. I have received 4 letters this morning, 3 from Lloyds TSB accepting our reduced payments for 6 months and reducing our interest to 0.482%pm... and one from JD williams stating they accept and no service charges would now be added. We make our first payment to CCCS on 1st November, but I am going to pay it in on Monday as that is the only day I can get to the post office. It doesn't matter if I pay it early does it?

    Thanks

    Nikki

Bad day now. Just as I was filling in the self admin cccs forms, I opened the post and there's one from newman and co, dca for Amex, saying "we are disappointed that all our effforts to rsolve this matter in a mutually acceptable manner have been unsuccessful". They are saying Bankruptcy proceedings will follow...

I did offer to make monthly payments so I'm livid. I have sent them an email outlining this. It will get there before my dmp... Actually, I'm not livid, I'm crushed. One step forward and twenty back.

Welcome to the "I start my DMP on the 1st November" club Poohbearmufc ;) No, it doesn't matter if you pay early, or so I've been told by CCCS myself as I am paying my first payment to them today via online banking.
