Hi Maz - this is sooooo wrong! Maybe worth starting a new thread to draw everyone's attention to this?

I think if this goes through there will be no point in DMP's, I might as well go bankrupt if I'm going to lose my home anyway, that will be the only way to stop the nastier creditors getting more than their fair share....

nice to see that there's protection for people who owe less than £1000, though.... (wait a minute, aren't there a couple of "0"'s missing in that number???

Off to sign the petition now....

  • Best of luck with your meeting Maz. I just hope this legislation doesn't go through or has major amendments. I'm sure the debt charities will also make some serious objections and hopefully successfully lobby to have this draconian bill thrown out.

    hiya mouncey

dont worry, im a bit of a tenacious woman when i get mad,,,lol

but thanks, we all need to either email or visit our mp,

i do know that the charities have already been speaking about this and expressing their views

ive had that first hand from the press office of one of them

but us people need to show the petition as many names as possible,

could you imagine if it got the highest ever amount of people signing it,

that in itself would send a clear enough message

    spread the word guys

    laters ciao maz:j

    Hi Everyone,

Just a little rant. I have a Sainsburys Credit Card and after only 3ish months on the DMP they have reinstated interest. Admitedly it's only a small amount but I feel as though there was hardly any point in them stopping it in the 1st place. It now works out that every month only about £3 odd gets paid off the debt, it's gonna take ages. Boohoo!

    Hiya Jvic28

yes i know what you mean! thats what halifax have done to me and thus only about 3.00 off my debt now too

thats why ive sent them a request for a copy of my credit card agreement, just to stir things up, im getting very rebellious in my old age

but thats the stance im now taking, they are really only helping for a short while and then they decide what they want to do

im learning more and more each day and im fed up with the moving of the goal posts

    rant over - laters maz

Hi guys ... don't know if this is of any interest to anyone, but The Fool just published a small article on which banks are connected ... http://www.fool.co.uk/news/your-money/savings/2008/09/22/which-banks-are-connected.aspx?source=uemfoleml0010038

  • Awaiting my cccs phone interview today..just wanted some advice re: bank overdraft.

Assuming this is lumped in with DMP, if I cancel all DD's out of this bank, can they still take payments for their own products? ie, personal loan and cc, if so this would continously put me over my arranged overdraft...or do they have to cancel DD's if I ask them too?

    Confused.com

    please help.

    xx

  • I know HSBC wont cancel the Standing Order I have for my Personal Loan as they refuse to accept my CCCS DMP. It gets debiteed on 1st, returned on 2nd and they charge me monthly for excess overdraft and returned S/O  basica advice from CCCS is you just need to grin and bear it until they default the account, but I think they are enjoying charging me too much to do that :rotfl:

Not sure if this is similar to other banks and their own products. If your internet banking will allow you to cancel it then just cancel it in my opinion.

I theory no if you cancell a DD but i have seen some banks continue to take the payment claiming it is part of the agreemant:confused:

Not sure if that is either true or legal (that it can be written in the agreemant) though im afraid

They can however offset it against any money in your account eventually (after issuing a default i believe) again if there is a clause in the agreement that allows it, which i believe there usually is
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(
