For those of you who want to do F&Fs I would do what ever suits you. Offer very low amounts first though.
I had a call today from Apex who my cahoot loan was passed to. They wanted to offer me a substantial discount. If I could pay £7500 today that would clear my debt of £9800. I told the guy I didn't have a spare £7500 lying around. He asked could I not get a loan for it. :rotfl: Anyway I told him I didn't want them ringing/texting me any more. He then told me to get CCCS to send them an update.
Oh and good news on the Halifax bank charges. I posted a few days ago about this. On account 3, I had been offered £1295 of a £2600 claim. When I phoned them they were under the impression they had offered me the full charges over 6 years but I had pointed out that they hadn't. Anyway it seems they miscalculated :rotfl: There were then 2 days of the systems not operating properly and they couldn't work my charges out.:rotfl: In fairness I got a courtesy call each day to tell me this and the lady was lovely. So today she rang again to say they had it sorted. My actual charges were £2295 - I had miscalculated and included some which had been refunded. So an offer of £2295 is going in the post to me today. :j0 -

A few weeks ago we did receive a call from MBNA saying the amounts offered were too low and they were putting pressure on us to up it.
It was quite an agressive sell, but we stuck to our guns and did not up the offer. Just to warn you...... Be strong with them xDMP Mutal Support thread No 193

Dh and I have split as a result as wellas he was way too laid back and I was the one dealing with everything and stressing!!
We were together nearly 13 years. We were both in debt up to our eye balls but the pressure of debt and money worries just got to us in the end. I'm confused at the minute and feel a bit lost. I know I might appear on here in control and confident but you don't know what goes on behind closed doors or should I say a computer screen. Why am I telling you all this I don't know, just having one of those rubbish days I think.
I had a letter from Lloyds today telling me they still have not received any contact from me and that if I don't pay x amount of pounds within fourteen days to bring my loan amount up to date then they will take further action me. I really don't want to call them because I know from reading on here I will have someone trying to make me pay more. Sorry but I am a bit of a wimp (probably due to being ashamed that I am in this mess in the first place)
So does this letter mean a ccj or just a default on the account? Sorry but I know I think I know it all on here from reading others posts I get confused sometimes with the jargon of it all.DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -
Hi Toffee Penny, really sorry to hear you are having a pants week! It is really tough and it takes its tole on relationships. OH and I have been together 27 years and married 20 years July just gone. Have to say, must be something in the air, as we have had a really tough week this week. Sometimes just gets to the best of us!!!
Anyway, reagarding your letters, I have had loads of these letters and from my experience, the stress of ignoring them is actually worse than giving them a quick call.
I had one last week from Goldfish.... as we have not heard from you etc etc...
I called them and they said, just to ignore it, they know I am on a DMP but they must send out these standard letters! She said that by law, before they issue defualts or anything they have to write to customers. She even ended the call by saying I will get another letter in 28 days but do not worry about it.
I also think that sometimes these letters come about from different departments who do not really know what is actually going on with your file.
Depending on how you are feeling, I would call them for peace of mind. Just do the usual and give them any reference numbers.
This is now about you and you getting your life together. Do not let them bully you. They can not take or you can not give what you have not got!
It may be the start of a default, but being on a DMP, that is going to happen anyway. Best to get them out of the way early.
Have a goods nights sleep, and see how you feel in the morning. As I say, sometimes the stress of not knowing what they mean is actually worse than calling. I found that out last week and felt so much better after the call.
you must feel up to it though.
Whatever you decide, stay strong and remember, you are making in roads into facing your debts and paying them off!
Take care and big hugs xxxx:ADMP Mutal Support thread No 193

Hope someone can help me feel a bit more confident about this.
My husband got a letter from TSB solicitors today threatening court action. We know from a phone call from them last night that they know about the DMP although they haven't agreed it yet or got the paperwork with the offer (I've been told they are about 4-6 weeks behind on their paperwork). I did speak to them last night after they made my husband jump through hoops to actually allow me to speak to them. They said they'd put a stop on the account just now although it wouldn't stop the charges for late payment or overlimit fees going on the account.
Does this mean I can safely ignore it as I know they already have the necessary details? It looks like the contact details are the same as for the CC even though it has a solicitors name on it. I've heard that TSB are pretty awful to deal with but they've been pretty good in respect of my CC it's just DH's that seems to be a problem. Likely because he refuses to speak to them as he won't deal with anyone that isn't in this country. He doesn't like foreign call centres. They are allowed to be foreign they just have to be physically in this country. I don't think the guy I spoke to had the faintest idea what I was actually talking about but I guess we wait and see.

Evening all!!
Just a quick question - we will have been on our DMP for a year at the end of September and were wondering if anything different will happen or if our creditors will be happy staying as things are now? Anyone been in this situation who could give us some advice as our DMP has been going smoothly for the last 12 months (beginning a bit rocky but ok now!!) except our budget is getting very tight!!
Thanks for all you help and advice especially those who helped us with all our questions at the beginning - can't believe thats a year up already - just another 15 to go!!!Official DFW Nerd Club Member no 694

CCCS have advised me to make token payments to all my cards and loan whilst everything is set up. How much should they be? Husband thought half of our normal payment but this would still be a struggle
TIA:eek: LBM August 2008:eek:Total debt £51914.74 Paid off so far £47,611 DMP started November 08 Current debt £4,303.73Proud to be dealing with OUR debt ! :T0 -
Hi sarriep, token payments are usually £1, that is what I paid for around 2 months whilst being set up and you will find a lot of people on here also paid £1 as token payments.
The reason it is usually £1, is, if you pay for instance half of your usual payments and the amount that CCCS then suggest and offer your creditors is less than that, your creditors may reject this saying you can afford more as you have been paying more as a 'token payment'.
Therefore, by paying just £1 you will then not be in danger of paying more than CCCS suggest and offer creditors. Hope that makes sense.
Most peeps on here, paid £1 token payments and put the rest away for a 'rainy day'.
Good luck - you have joined a great forum - everyone on here are very supportive and full of helpful advice! xDMP Mutal Support thread No 193
