yes! looking at it like that does'nt seem that bad...i have asked work to call me when they need extra cover, it would only mean an extra 3 hours a month...must be able to do that!
  • Hi Everyone

Things still ticking along on the DMP, however I have just rung Chelt and Gloucester and discussed a mortgage payment break. This is due to unexpected financial emergency that we are currently experiencing. I have never missed a mortgage payment and they went through the process. The advisor then said I need to do a credit score check (I thought here goes, why do they need to credit search me?) and she then said that my payment break had been declined

I tried to argue the point that the whole idea about my requested mortgage payment break was to help me financially so that I would not struggle and to prevent me not to miss a payment. I thought the whole idea of the payment break was to assist those in financial difficulties and to help unexpected financial crisis that arise?

Or have I got it wrong?

    Hi Guys and welcome Magenta........

I have 2 CC with NatWest and both have accepted the DMP.
However, recd a statement from them today and they are still charging interest at 6 times more than I am actually paying them per month:mad: , they are also added on over limit fee and also late payment fees as the money from payplan gets to the account a few days after their due date  .

Firstly, anyone had any dealings with natwest and did they get charged interest.

How do I go about asking them to stop, should I send a letter or should this go through Payplan?

I thought Payplan sorted out due dates? What sould I do about this?

This makes me so angry, how on earth does this make any sense at all!??? This is not helping in any why shape or form!!! Greedy robbing so and sos!!!!!!!

    Help gratefully recevied xx

    Hi Angel cake

Just want to let you know i have about £25k with Natwest on a DMP with payplan for the last year and they have never stopped interest but it is a LOT lower than it was. So after a lot of letter sending form me and payplan I have given up trying to stop this they jsut say the are entitled to it and it will not stop.

Also I got nasty letters saying the payment was late - I talked to payplan and they changed the date they take my DMP money so it clears in time for the creditors.

good luck with it all xx
  • Thanks for that Worrygirl.
It just seems crazy to me that they still continue to charge (yes I know it is their right) however, you would think they would ease the burden by stopping ever increasing balances.
Anyway, I suppose we should be grateful that they have accepted the plan.

  • Dear all, wonder if any of you wise people could help me??

I was going to post this onto another thread but became too chicken as I did not want people to judge my situation.....

Anyway, as many of you know I am on a DMP with Payplan and have been for the last 3 months. I have picked up several defaults alont the way.

I currently rent my house and am trying to look at more ways to save money and have seen a house that is quite a lot cheaper.( it is with my current agent)

    1) Do you think they will need to do another credit check on me? I have been with this agent for over a year now and never missed or been late with a payment and this new property is a lot cheaper.

    2) If they do a check, what do they check for? I was once told it was just name / address/ electrol roll etc...... I can not see that myself though. Would they look for defaults?

Amazingly I had less debt last year when they checked (as I had a mortgage then) however, I had no defaults then.

Hope somebody may be able to help, as I say, I was going to post on the rental threads, but chickened out !!!! Wot a baby !!!!! xx

  • Hi everyone,

I'djust like to say thank you everyone for the kind supportive messages left. I was in a right state the other night (I've re-read my posts and sounded like a right proper queen!) and couldn't face posting or doing anything yesterday. I think I've had my lightbulb moment and I know I can't keep thinking that I'll get straight in a couple of months because I know it won't and I want to sort myself out and pay off all my debts.

I've wrote a long list of things I need to do to reduce my outgoings and I'm slowly working my way down it.

I'm going away this weekend to visit a friend (a very cheap holiday!) and I aim to do as much as I can by tomorrow.

Thanks again for all your friendly messages and support and now I'm here I'll be around for a while

Natwest are money hungry thieves!! When we fell into hardship I sent letters asking them to reduce the account from Advantage Gold to a basic which would save us on the charges they never did and continued charging is for an Advantage Gold Account  They have also rejected our token payment on several occasions and continue to threaten us!!

    Hi d_brat81,

Yes i agree they are the only creditor (out of 8!):o that have contuied intrest. I had a advantage gold account as well and payed £6 a month I think for the pleasure:mad: when i started my DMP Playplan said to write them a letter about it and then it stopped. Think it took a phone call as well. I had an overdraft credit card and loan they put all the debt together. what really annoys me is they are the ones that didnt help my situation in the first place!

I was struggleing with meeting minimum payments on credits cards so went in and saw my bank manager asking for help and what i could do. they gave me a great big fat loan to pay everything off, and as i'm sure you all know how it goes... started struggling again and used credit cards AGAIN :o so i had a waking big £25k plus 8 credit cards on top topay! dont get me wrong I should not have used the credit cards but i sold cars for a living and sales were down so commision was rubbish (£600 TAKE HOME a month some months) so i used the cards to live.
I just really would have liked Natwest to have sat me down and talked to me about how to manage my money, not just give me more! to top this all off my step dad is an ex bank manager for Natwest (he retired years ago now) he got me that account when i was 8 years old he said back in his day he did sit people down and helped them - now its just about selling not helping the customer.

Only good thing is they gave me payment protection on the loan that i have claimed back and got 3k plus the debt left has been reduced to the amout it would have been without it! Im in the process of reclaiming bank charges with them as well (5k) but on hold.

gosh look at me baberling on! sorry just felt like saying all that - get it off my chest.

    I HATE NATWEST!!!!

How bizarre, I came home to a default from Capital One today, exactly one year after we started our DMP. I assumed it's because they are going to sell the debt  .
