Thanks, that's really reassuring newlywed. I was thinking because we'd agreed to a figure it was written in our blood, and if we failed to keep up the payments we'd go to hell.. or something...maybe I should calm down a bit?!I now think that when we spoke to First Direct yesterday they were referring to our pro-rata offer, because CCCS hasn't got our account details or anything yet.

If it was grey paper, then it wasn't solicitors just another department within Lloyds collections. Someone posted on the main forum who worked for them.
I would just send out a copy of any letters that you have been sending Lloyds it is there last ditched attempt to squeeze money and after my grey letter they actually accepted. Although they did get a snotty letter off me for "referring" to solicitors when payment offers were in place.
Thanks rayday, it is a grey letter. The only thing I have to send is the original CCCS notification of DMP form. I'll copy that and send it off to them. With any luck that'll do the job.August 08 debt £58544.84, Paid £1668, Dec 08 Total £58236.48

Good morning Ray - just wondering what a grey paper letter was? Is it the type of mass produced letters warning court action, solicitors etc, with a signature printed on it. Cheers.
It is a letter on grey paper thick stuff, those who have had them from Lloyds know them by the grey letter!
But yes faceless people ...0 -
Hi all!!
yellowmonkey - thanks for your reply - it is hard with the price of everything going up and may need to look again at my SOA but it is such a relief to be lowering our debt even if it is just by a small amount (compared to the total owed) every month.
Ex-spendaholic - thanks for your reply - as above it is getting harder to live on our budget and so our creditors won't be able to get any more every month but at least we are giving them something so every little bit helps!!
Your replies are much appreciated as it is great to feel that we are not alone on this loooonnnnnngggggg road to being debt-free!!Official DFW Nerd Club Member no 694

I have become a little obsessed with these boards today but it has been helpful reading everyones experiences and seeing how supportive everyone is.
I have given up with the Halifax account - I phoned them today and they couldn't find any reference to my online app. They also said they are a couple of weeks behind - NOT GOOD I WANT IT NOW!!! (Half of my problem really!!)
I want a basic account set up quickly so I can transfer what is left of our wages before HSBC realises what is going on and takes all of them so I phoned the Co-op spoke to a very helpful young man who said the account was approved straight away! :j I should be able to transfer money and DDs next week. Phew.
I'm also looking forward to making the £1 token payments and NOT the usual £800 we pay out. This means the kids can have their school uniforms and I'll save enough for the 2 cars tax which are both up in the next couple of months. Will 'save' the rest too. I'm sure we will need it.
I am a little scared about trying to live to a budget. I'm sure that sounds really pathetic to those hardened dedicated moneysavers out there but we really have been PANTS at managing money. If you've read my previous posts some of you may know we were dealing with our £25000 of debt when I discovered my (not so) DH has accrued another £13-14000 of debt GAMBLING. I feel very hurt by this. We haven't been able to go away this summer because of our finances and he's done this. He had a bag packed in the car in case I decided to throw him out. Which I haven't. I am finding it very hard to trust him and keep getting bursts of anger. I feel too ashamed and embarassed to talk to my family but have a very good friend to confide in.
I feel exhausted. We could have probably managed the £25000 but not the £40000+
I'm a bit scared but feel 1000 times better after browsing the board and seeing the support everyone offers!:eek: LBM August 2008:eek:Total debt £51914.74 Paid off so far £47,611 DMP started November 08 Current debt £4,303.73Proud to be dealing with OUR debt ! :T0 -

Hi!
Newbie here! My partner and myself have just set up our dmp with cccs, sent token payments and paperwork off today, so looking forward to getting everything sorted out and getting the ball rolling. We've gone from having to pay out £600+ a month to £255 so it's a great weight off our shoulders. It'll be great even to be able to buy the kids shoes etc when they need them instead of having to get less food in that week.
The companies we've set the dmp up with are-
BOS visa (this is the biggest one at £7600
Next -£1400
Great Universal - £400
Vanquis - £500
Cap 1 - £1000
Aqua - £1100
Egg - £1420
Littlewoods - £250
Choice - £400
Look Again - £250
Does anyone know if I should expect a particular lot of bother from any of that lot? I'm prepared for the letters and phonecalls (thank god for caller display!) but have read a lot about threats of being taken to court etc which is a bit worriesome. Any experience or anything would be welcome.
Look forward to getting to know you all much better!!Starting DMP with CCCS 1st October 2008
