    Hi Parsley,

You don't need to do anything. Even if they have received your paperwork and token payment, you would probably still get the default. Nearly all of my 15 creditors sent default notices at some point within the first 4 months. Nothing can be done about them. They'll just sit on my credit file for 6 years

    Nothing to worry about

    Hi,

    I have a question.

Got a default notice from TSB today for the biggest credit card. It's dated 7th August and I sent everything to them for the DMP on the 5th so it's probably crossed in the post. Do I ignore it assuming that they now have the DMP letter and the small payment which would have been sent today or do I send them a reply?

It's too late to phone CCCS just now as they close at 8 so I can't ask them what to do.

    Thanks

Hi Parsley, you may well still get defaults if you are on a DMP as you have defaulted from the orginal T&Cs. To be honest, from what I have learnt on here, the sooner you get them the better as a creditor can default you at any given time during your DMP. Worse case would be if you got defaulted after a few years, you then have 6 years from the default to clear from your credit file. Also, some creditors will not stop interest until a default has been given. Call CCCS for their thoughts too. I am sure somebody else will come along soon to help x

    hello all

just popped in to see how everyone is

welcome arden -noticed you were a newbie, and welcome to all other newbies i may have missed on the last few pages

dont worry its fab here, just post your concerns and everyone will try and give you a little help, sometimes we might not know but will just give you a little guidance to who to call but as you are with pp no worries for you, there are a few of us that do our own dmp and well its interesting - lol

ive doing this my way as its been a huge learning curve for me, and im happy to have done it this way but i do understand the first time you actually admit to yourself something needs to be done to help you sort it all out. So im really happy that there are organisations to help too, i like rayday from my initial posting she had guided me to national debtline site so im using them and also talk to them if i need to

sometimes its just clarification that you are really not going mad with all this mad debt - lol

so take care and welcome aboard, ciao for now MAZ

The phone calls to me haven't started yet, but I know that they will... As I know I will be awful on the phone and also really do not want my dad to know (but he comes round quite a lot and it would be so obvious if I'm avoiding the phone), I would be more than happy to change my home phone number.

But how did you go about doing this? Did BT charge you? Just to be prepared if they do get too much...

    Thanks

It was free for me and I was on BT I just said I was getting a lot of sales calls and at the same time asked to go ex directory etc and they were very helpful. I told family and friends the same and they didn't think twice about it.

    Hi All,
I post a little on here, but am a bit of a gatecrasher as I'm not yet on a dmp. Ive been paying token payments since March and am now finally in a position to put £100 a month towards my debts (hoping to increase this again in a few months). I'm speaking with my advisor at cccs tomorrow and will be redoing my income/expenditure form and hopefully then cccs will start to arrange my dmp.

My budget from the cccs is the barebones and listed below. I want to free up as much cash from my budget prior to starting the dmp so I have a bit of a safety net if you see what I mean. please have a look and see if you can suggest any further ways to cut down on anything.

My phone/broadband/line rental is £58 a month with BT and Im tied into a contract which I can't get out of, and my mobile is £25 a month until feb 09 when I'm considering PAYG although Im not sure this will be any cheaper?

Any advice before tomorrow's call will be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    2 adults - one child:

    Income: (after tax) £1420

    Rent: 500
    C Tax - £103
    G/Elec - Capped at £58

    Insurances
    Contents £9.68
    Car £23.84
    Medical/Accident £4.98
    TV Licence £11.61
    Telephone/Mobile/BBand = £83
    Motoring:
    Spares etc £15
    Road Tax £10
    Fuel/Parking £60

    Food/CleaningMats/Nappies/Wipes £302
    Clothing - £30
    hairdressing £25

    Currently £12 to creditors
    Entertainment/Hobbies etc £20
    Sundries/Emergencies £15

    Total in £1420
Total Out (not including token payments)
    £1271
    =£149

£100 to DMP = £49 extra so am guessing CCCS will suggest DMP payment at £130

I am never very good at these SOA so take what I say with a cellar of salt, but I personally would bump up or include something like christmas savings. If you have a child surely you will have to have birthday presents, christmas etc. DMPS are very long term so you have to make sure you have enough entertainment or luxury money as obviously credit is no longer an option.

But I am sure someone better at these things will come along!

Thanks rayday. Any money from challenges and extras in go into the sealed put for xmas, we've bitten the bullet and give adults cards (which I bought job lot) and gifts for kids only at birthday times. Xmas we buy for everyone but have already done some of our xmas shopping and everyone gets one gift. We have £20 in the budget for entertainment etc and are doing well with it. Thanks for replying.
The budget is the one cccs gave us (except the phone/bband etc which is £15 higher than we should have it) and is based on the lowest amounts they are allowed to advise so can't see it going up yet unless we have more surplus in the budget. We've stuck to it very well since the beginning of March so am very pleased with myself, just looking for any other hints/tips to think over before I talk to CCCS again.

(Have to say - am very proud of how we've managed food for 3 of us, cleaning mats and nappies etc on £68 a week)!

    hiya nicki-sue

just wanted to drop a note to say good luck in the morning, seems to me you are doing really well

only thing i can think of is have a peek at the moneysaving old style and the cooking tips there, may help you further on bulk cooking to save on the cooker costs, ive started doing this and just freeze extra portions, working out much better than i thought, i appear to be less in the kitchen cooking and more time on here lol

just remember any extra you can get away in your budget do, as its long term now and as rayday says, things like the xmas and pressie funds as credit is no longer going to be available so to speak

anyway good luck on your journey and keep us posted on how you are doing when you can

    Thank you Maz!

I love the OS board - I work from home and look after my lo at the same time (no childcare costs) so regularly have an afternoon where I have a cooking blitz! Another place Ive saved food money is I've asked my local grocer to do me a delivery once a week and given her a list of what I want each, and she rings me before delivery to let me know if theres any offers ie cheaper potatoes in etc and I ring her the day before if I want less of something or more of something else. The day before my next delivery, anything left over goes into the soup pot. Saves me a fortune moneywise, is fresher, nicer frruit and veg and I'd rather give my cash to the local grocer business than Tesco!

Fingers crossed my CCCS advisor can get back to me today and I can get the ball rolling.

Will let you all know - before long I'll be on here asking for a DMP number

    Hi All,

Thanks everyone for their kind words of support. :T

Can't wait to get my DMP documentation through now so that i can get the ball rolling.

I have a total of 5 creditors mounting to £23k credit card debt. How much should i offer as a token payment to these companies. I've been told by payplan my monthly payment will be £238.
